How to Apply

The application process for transfer students involves several key steps:

Online Application: Complete the online application form available at admissions.ufl.edu/apply/transfer. The application typically takes about 30 minutes to complete, and you can save your progress and return to it later.
Transcripts: Submit transcripts from every postsecondary institution attended. Unofficial transcripts are accepted for initial review, and can be uploaded within the academic background section of the application or through the application status page. Applicants who receive an offer of admission must arrange for official transcripts to be sent directly to the UF Office of Admissions. UF accepts electronic transcripts through FASTER, Parchment, National Student Clearing House, ScribbleSoft, e-Scrip Safe, Credential Solutions, SCOIR or Transcripts Plus.
Application Fee: Pay the required application fee.
Test Scores (If Applicable): Lower division transfer applicants who graduated high school less than 5 years ago will need to submit test scores from the SAT, ACT and/or CLT. UF has no test preference and will superscore.

High school students who will have an AA degree upon high school graduation should apply as freshmen. Under the Florida Board of Governors Admission Regulation 6.005, these students have two options for admission consideration:

Freshman Application: Complete a freshman application, including the STARS (formerly SSAR) and SAT/ACT/CLT scores, and go through the freshman process. If admission is not offered through this process, you can be considered as a transfer student.
Transfer Application: Be considered only as a transfer student. This path does not consider test scores, but the colleges will evaluate the prerequisites needed for your intended major and your college GPA.

Transferring from a Florida College System Institution

The best way to transfer to UF is to excel at a school in the Florida College System. In a recent cycle, 72% of accepted transfer students had already completed an associate’s degree, and two-thirds came directly from a community college.

Due to space limitations, UF is not currently accepting lower-division transfer students with fewer than 60 credits. Prospective applicants are encouraged to remain at or transfer to a Florida college until they have earned their AA degree.

UF Online Transfer Students

UF Online offers a robust academic experience for those joining the Gator Nation online. Admissions requirements are based on the number of transferable college credits you will have earned prior to your intended first term in the program.

Lower Division Transfer Applicants

Must have at least a 2.5 academic cumulative GPA from high school. Competitive applicants typically have a 3.0 GPA or higher at the college level.
Those who graduated high school less than 5 years ago will need to submit test scores from the SAT, ACT and/or CLT.
Those with 30 or more transferable college credits should have completed some of the prerequisite courses for their major of interest prior to their first intended term of enrollment in UF Online. The closer a student is to earning 60 credits, the more prerequisites are expected for admission.

Important Note for UF Online Students

With the exception of the Pathway to Campus Enrollment (PaCE) program, UF Online is not a pathway to becoming a UF Main Campus student. The admissions process for UF Online and UF Main Campus are separate and distinct.
