Navigating the University of Florida Housing Portal: A Comprehensive Guide

Living on campus at the University of Florida (UF) places you at the heart of all activities, just a short distance from classes and friends. The UF Housing Portal is the central hub for students seeking on-campus accommodation. This article provides a detailed guide to navigating the portal and securing your housing for the academic year.

The Importance of Applying Early

Housing is not exclusively for first-year students, so applying early is crucial. Applying early allows you to secure your spot in line for your room selection. The application date determines when you will receive your housing agreement and where you will live.

Step-by-Step Guide to the Housing Application Process for 2025-2026

The housing application process for the 2025-2026 academic year involves several key steps, all managed through the Housing Portal.

Step 1: Accessing the Housing Portal and Initiating the Application

Begin the application process for 2025-26 by logging into the Housing Portal. You will complete your Student Housing Agreement here. If available, you will also have the option to renew your same bed space.

Step 2: Building or Modifying a Roommate Group

If you opt to select a new bed space, you can build or modify a roommate group as part of completing your housing agreement in preparation for selecting your room.

Step 3: Appointment Times

Your appointment time, which denotes when you may enter the Housing Portal and select an available room for the next year, will be determined based on when you completed your 2025-26 Student Housing Agreement.

Step 4: Room Selection

At your scheduled appointment time, you will select your building and room preference in the Housing Portal.

Cancellation Policy

If your plans change, the final date to cancel your housing agreement with no cancellation fee is Dec. EST. Standard cancellation fees apply from January 1, 2025, to May 1, 2025.

Detailed Breakdown of the Housing Application Process

1. Housing Application

The first step is to apply to live on campus. The application consists of confirming your contact information, adding family member or support information, and submitting the $25 non-refundable application fee. After admissions decisions are available, you will receive communication about completing your housing agreement and selecting your space.

2. Student Housing Agreement

Complete your student housing agreement by reviewing the terms and conditions and signing the agreement on or before May 1. Your housing agreement ensures you a space in a residence hall but does not guarantee a specific building, room type or room rate.

3. Preferences and Assignments

Once your agreement is complete, it’s time to start selecting preferences! Preferences will help guide and prepare you for your room assignment. While preferences are not guaranteed, our team does our absolute best to match you with your choices. Preferences include Living Learning Community, and roommate.

4. Room Selection

With your preferences submitted, it’s time to select a room. This time is determined by when you completed your Housing Application. At your scheduled appointment time, you can select a room. If you are in a roommate group, the person with the earliest appointment time will select the room on behalf of the group.
