Upgrading Options:

Qualifying Studies:

Students can upgrade their high school qualifications while simultaneously taking university courses toward a future degree. This option allows students to explore their options before applying to a specific program. Qualifying Studies students can take up to 30 credits while working on the requirements they need to enter a program.

Applicants with Existing Degrees:

If applying to a degree program and have already completed a degree, additional requirements apply.

Admission Requirements for International Students

International applicants are welcome at UFV.

English Language Proficiency:

International students must demonstrate their English skills through various means. UFV's admissions team assesses whether applicants meet the requirements. The minimum Duolingo score required for the University of the Fraser Valley is 110 & Above.

VFS-UFV Pathway

Graduates from all Vancouver Film School’s (VFS) Advanced Production Programs are eligible to transfer into degree programs at UFV. These degree pathways offer value in terms of credit transfer/advanced standing, and a corresponding UFV degree can be obtained in as little as 3 years when studying full time.

VFS graduates can select accelerated arts-focused degree paths into the Bachelor of Media Arts (BMA), Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA), Bachelor of Arts (BA), and Bachelor of Integrated Studies (BIS) at the University of the Fraser Valley. All courses relevant to the BA, BFA, BIS, and BMA are held in Abbotsford.

Note: Admission to VFS does not guarantee access to UFV programs. Applicants must meet UFV requirements.

Application Deadlines

UFV accepts applications for entrance to the Fall, Winter, and Summer semesters.

  • Fall Intake: Opens for the following September. International students must apply by April 1. Domestic applications will be accepted into October.
  • Winter Intake: Opens for the following January. International students must apply by October 1.
  • Summer Intake: Opens for the following May. Please note, not all programs have a summer intake. International students must apply by February 1.

UFV will complete an initial review of applications shortly after they are received. If all required academic documents are uploaded with the application, an applicant may receive a conditional offer of admission. This offer letter will indicate the tuition fee deposit required, the official documents/transcript requirements and deadlines, and other relevant requirements to be admitted to a semester.
