One of the core pillars of the UCLA OBGYN’s mission is to train the next generation of providers and researchers devoted to improving women’s health. We provide excellent training for our medical students, residents and fellows through a mixture of clinical experience, didactic material, research and investigative pursuits. Comprehensive Training Programs
UCLA's commitment to education is evident in its comprehensive training programs, designed to equip aspiring obstetricians and gynecologists with the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary to excel in the field. The faculty at UCLA is committed to the highest standards of education in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Our goal is to graduate residents who excel in all aspects of this specialty. We focus on providing a thorough education that provides the training of a well rounded obstetrician-gynecologist -- one who excels in the medical and surgical aspects of our specialty. We emphasize bedside as well as didactic teaching. We stress the care of the whole patient in the context of her problem. We encourage the development of the techniques that enhances communication between the patient and her physician and provides optimum medical care.
Residency Program at Harbor-UCLA
Our OB/ GYN residency program at Harbor-UCLA encompasses a variety of training sites that will immerse you in the entire breadth of our specialty: the managed care model at the various participating Kaiser institutions offer low risk Obstetrics and gynecologic surgical procedures. All of the sub-specialties are well represented at Harbor-UCLA: Gynecologic Oncology, Reproductive Endocrinology, Family Planning and Uro-Gynecology. Harbor-UCLA has the oldest Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery (URPS/Urogyn) fellowship in the country, which currently has three full time FPMRS faculty involved with the medical students, residents and fellow’s education.

Opportunities for Skill Development
Whether to improve your laparoscopic techniques or prepare for your first surgical procedure, we offer many opportunities to hone your skills: take- home laparoscopic trainers, use of our new simulation center, bi-annual operative laparoscopic animal labs, and our “Simulation Olympics” all enable you to enter the operating room with confidence.
For our UCLA students rotating in this department for their core clerkship, as well as Sub-Interns from outside institutions who are looking to learn more about our program, every student will become an integral part of our OB/GYN team.
