For students who have been recommended for admission, the next step is to submit their Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) as soon as their decision is final. Unless a formal leave of absence (LOA) is granted, graduate students are expected to register every term, including the term in which their degree or certificate is to be awarded. Dropping to zero units is not permitted unless an approved LOA is on file by the second week of any given quarter.
Regarding health insurance, online students who possess their own health insurance are not required to show proof of insurance or submit an insurance waiver. BruinCards are issued to students who demonstrate an immediate need for student-only campus services, such as access to COVID test kits and residential/dining halls, and are typically picked up in person at the BruinCard office. A critical aspect of the MSOL program's academic integrity is its examination policy: MSOL exams are proctored in person. Students have the option to test on-campus at UCLA or face-to-face with a proctor of their choosing. However, virtual proctoring sites such as Examity and ProctorU are not permitted.
