The UT Dallas Approach to SCM Internships

Upon completing the internship, students must keep documentation of completion, demonstrating at least 150+ hours within six months in an approved internship experience. This documentation will be submitted as an assignment in SCM 489, the required internship course. SCM 489 is a 0-credit hour course typically taken immediately or soon after completing an internship, incurring no fee regardless of when the student registers.

In the internship approval form, students indicate the semester they anticipate enrolling in SCM 489. Once approved, the SCM Internship Coordinator adds the student to a list for enrollment in the weeks leading up to the indicated semester. Submitting documentation to confirm internship completion.
Recording a short reflection video.

Defining an Acceptable Internship

Approval of an exception request changes, but does not eliminate, the internship requirement. Students approved for an exception will still be required to complete SCM 489 to graduate, indicating during which semester they would like to complete the course.
