Applicant’s will need to request an official transcript at the time of their application, and a secondary transcript once they’ve graduated listing the degree earned.

Transfer Students

Augsburg has several ways for students completing their Associate of Arts degree or the Minnesota Transfer Curriculum (MnTC) at a community college to transfer and complete their Bachelor’s degree in only 2 additional years.

The Auggie Plan is designed for Minnesota students who want to begin their college experience at a community college but are seeking a clear and attainable path to a four-year degree. If students are Pell grant eligible and meet the requirements of the Auggie Plan, they will receive the Auggie Plan Two + Two scholarship. This scholarship utilizes the Pell grant, MN state grant, and $7,500 in student loans for junior and senior year (per year).

International Students

International students will likely require a foreign credential evaluation. Evaluations can be accepted from World Education Services, SpanTran Pathways - Augsburg University, Educational Credential Evaluators, or any NACES accredited organization.

Applicants must submit an official transcript(s) from the regionally-accredited institution granting the Bachelor’s degree and the most recently attended institution, if not the same.

Graduate Programs

Admitted applicants with a 3.0 or higher GPA are granted full admission to the program. Admitted applicants with a cumulative grade point average of 2.5-2.99 are granted a provisional admission to the graduate program. If a student admitted provisionally fails to maintain a 3.0 Augsburg cumulative GPA over their first two terms, they may be dismissed from the graduate program.

Upon acceptance to the MAT program, candidate transcripts are evaluated to determine any prior coursework that may be applied to the teaching license. Additionally, prior coursework is evaluated to be sure that an equivalent of the Liberal Arts Foundation in Augsburg’s undergraduate program has been met. A student may request to have transcripts waived but this could extend the length of study at Augsburg.

For the particular MSW courses open for waiver to these advanced standing applicants, we expect a grade of B or higher in the BSW equivalent course. But it also is expected that the remaining BSW courses from the social work major were completed satisfactorily and the applicant graduated with an accredited BSW degree. Each application file is reviewed by 1-2 full-time social work faculty who each make a recommendation on the file. On average, MSW applicants submit a personal statement between 2 to 4 pages (double spaced). Approximately 1/2 page to 1 page per question is considered adequate.
