Federal Student Loans
UW-Platteville participates in federal student loan programs designed to help students finance their education. These loans offer various terms and conditions, and eligibility requirements. To determine which courses are eligible to receive aid if a student is taking both graduate and undergraduate courses, please visit the Financial Aid and Scholarships office. Students in distance education courses are required to demonstrate attendance in courses in order to be eligible for aid. Logging into a course is not considered attendance.
Unsubsidized Federal Direct Loan
This loan is not based on need. However, the student must complete the FAFSA. Unlike a Subsidized Federal Direct Loans for undergraduate students, with an Unsubsidized Federal Direct Loan interest accrues while the student is in school.
Graduate PLUS Loan
Graduate students may borrow a Graduate PLUS Loan up to their cost of attendance minus other financial aid received. In addition to completing the FAFSA, students will also need to complete a PLUS Loan application form indicating the amount of loan they would like to borrow. A credit check is required and repayment begins on the last disbursement of the loan.

Federal Work-Study
UW-Platteville's graduate programs are primarily online, for that reason we do not include Federal Work-Study in graduate student aid packages. State-supported graduate assistantships may be available in graduate programs offered on campus.
Grants for Economically Disadvantaged or Under-represented Ethnic Minority Students
UW-Platteville's graduate programs are primarily online. Graduate students of a disadvantaged or under-represented ethnic minority group or an economically disadvantaged student may apply for this grant to assist with payment of college costs. Students must be admitted to a degree program, both Wisconsin Residents and Non-Residents are eligible for the program. Full-Time and Part-Time students are eligible to fill out the application. Students who are enrolled in online graduate programs are eligible.
