Embedded within the University Family Physicians Clinic, our Primary Care Sports Medicine providers are uniquely positioned to provide care for the whole patient and see your injury as part of you and your life goals. We work with athletes from the point of injury through the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation process. The Sports Medicine Clinic faculty have been physicians for Olympic, US Military, national, collegiate, and high school programs, but we believe that every person’s injury or illness deserves world-class care. We see athletes of all ages, from children with injuries of the growth plate, pre-teens with overuse issues, young adults striving for success in their sport, to older adults maintaining their fitness and joy of activity. University Occupational Health Services provides a full range of services to safely place workers, maintain health and productivity, and restore injured employees back to the workplace. Our office is staffed with eight Board Certified Internists and thirty resident physicians dedicated to serving the primary care needs of the East Tennessee community. Each patient will be seen by a resident physician under the supervision and guidance of an attending physician.
UTHSC COM-Knoxville provides fellows with an excellent support system, including nursing, pharmacy, library, laboratory, nutritional support, social workers, consultative support from subspecialists, and an excellent Resident Assistance Program. UTHSC COM-Knoxville is minutes away from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, main campus and has the resources of this large institution at its disposal. UTHSC COM-Knoxville has a close working relationship with the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, located in Memphis. Teachers and researchers at UTHSC COM-Knoxville collaborate and share facilities with colleagues at the prestigious University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine, Knoxville, and Oak Ridge National Laboratories. UTHSC COM-Knoxville draws patients from a large geographic area in East Tennessee, southeast Kentucky, northwest North Carolina, and western Virginia. University of Tennessee Medical Center is a Level 1 Trauma Center, with three helicopters providing transport of critically ill patients, including numerous acute myocardial infarction patients.
