Navigating UCLA Health Burbank Clinical Lab Services: A Comprehensive Guide

UCLA Health provides a network of clinical laboratory services, including a location in Burbank, to support patient care through diagnostic testing. Understanding the services offered, how to access them, and what to expect can help streamline the process for both patients and healthcare providers. The UCLA Clinical Laboratory provides diagnostic testing services for affiliated outpatient clinics and physician offices.

Overview of UCLA Clinical Laboratory Services

The UCLA Clinical Laboratory provides diagnostic testing services for the Westwood and Santa Monica sites as well as affiliated outpatient clinics and physician offices. These services encompass a broad range of tests essential for diagnosis, treatment monitoring, and overall patient management. The Laboratory also manages the point-of-care testing services in inpatient and hospital-based outpatient locations. For testing not performed by the laboratory, selected referral laboratories are utilized. The division also actively supports clinical research activities. We are licensed by the State of California, accredited by the College of American Pathologists, and hold CLIA certification for all testing locations.

Locations and Hours of Operation

UCLA Health operates multiple outpatient phlebotomy sites to enhance accessibility for patients. One of the primary locations is situated in Westwood at 200 UCLA Medical Plaza, Suite 145, Los Angeles, CA 90095. This facility operates from Monday to Friday, 6:00 am to 7:00 pm, and on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) and holidays from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, with the exception of Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day.

An additional outpatient phlebotomy site is located at 1245 16th St., Suite 220, Santa Monica, CA 90404.

  • Direct Appointment Scheduling: We now offer direct appointment scheduling for in-person lab visits at this location.

If you have questions about a specific result, the Clinical Lab encourages you to reach out to the ordering physician to determine the latest status of that order.

  • Billing Inquiries: I have a question about billing.
  • Westlake Village Laboratory: With the exception of UCLA Health Westlake Village Laboratory, all other Clinical Laboratory locations do not currently accept appointments.

Addressing Common Concerns

  • Lab Orders in CareConnect: If you would like to see if your lab orders are available in CareConnect, remember that lab orders are generally placed and released by your ordering provider. Your doctor or treatment team is the best resource for order status confirmation.
  • Missing Lab Results: If your provider is unable to view one of your lab results, it's important to communicate with your ordering physician to determine the latest status of that order.
  • Turnaround Time: While every test has a specific turnaround time, the lab releases results to CareConnect as soon as they become available.

Patient Experiences

Patient experiences at UCLA Health Burbank Clinical Lab and other locations generally highlight the efficiency and professionalism of the staff. For example, Judy L. notes that they are the best!! Easy and fast. Good system when you walk in - sign in - not a long wait and their phlebotomists are very professional and quick. Best lab for giving blood I've ever. Susannah B. mentions that during busy mornings they're usually fully staffed. The phlebotomists are all great and I'm a hard stick with tiny veins, developed scar tissue because of only being able to use one arm for draw yet they.
