GSA Forum: Legislative and Judicial Authority

The GSA Forum serves as the primary legislative and judicial body of the organization. It is composed of student Delegates who represent each Academic Council and the Student Interest Board. The Forum holds significant responsibilities, including:

  • Approving budgets for GSA activities and initiatives.
  • Establishing organizational policy to guide the GSA’s operations.
  • Enforcing the Constitution and Codes of the GSA to ensure accountability.

GSAE co-chairs work closely together with division and program representatives to support and enhance graduate students’ educational and co-curricular experiences in the Department of Education. GSAE co-chairs also work closely with the department chair and faculty to address student issues affecting our diverse student body. This is a one-year commitment.

For each 20 enrolled graduate students in a program or division, there is one representative. GSAE student representatives are responsible for organizing social/professional events to enhance student experiences. They also work closely with GSAE and faculty leaders to address student concerns. GSAE student representatives are responsible for attending division faculty meetings and GSAE meetings throughout the academic year.

Graduate Students Association in the Department of European Languages and Transcultural Studies

The Graduate Students Association in the Department of European Languages and Transcultural Studies is a self-constituted and self-managed organization of the graduate students under the auspices of the UCLA Graduate Students Association. It is responsible for identifying issues of interest to graduate students and for facilitating communication between graduate students and faculty in the Department. Elected representatives regularly take part in departmental meetings and serve on most departmental committees. The GSA also organizes the students’ own lectures and symposia.
