English Language Proficiency
For prospective students whose country is not considered English-speaking, an English exam is required. St. George's University requires students to pass the IELTS or TOEFL exam before applying. The Four-Year MD Program

The program is structured into two main phases: the basic sciences phase and the clinical training phase. During the basic sciences phase, students acquire a solid foundation in medical fundamentals, including anatomy, physiology, and biochemistry. In the clinical training phase, students have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience through rotations in a variety of medical settings. These rotations take place at over 75 affiliated hospitals and health systems in the US and UK, providing students with diverse and valuable clinical exposure.

As the medical school graduating the largest number of students per year, SGU places the largest number of graduates into residency programs each year, based on internal SGU graduate/expected graduate and residency placement data. Over 940 US residencies were secured in 2024.

The partnership between SGU and Northumbria University offers a Four-Year MD Program and Five- and Six- Year MD Tracks.
Six Years MD Program
The 6 Years MD Program offers a comprehensive education that combines in-depth scientific knowledge with essential skills for effective communication and understanding public health principles. Accepted qualifications include: AS Levels, Baccalaureate, South Africa Matric, Higher School Exam, Irish Leaving Certificate.
Financial Aid and Affordability
An exceptional education is one of the most important investments a family can make. Financial Aid at St. George's is awarded in the form of a grant to meet our families demonstrated need. Thirty-two percent of our students receive affordability grants, and St. George's will continue to bridge the gap for as many families as possible. St. George’s partners with Clarity to determine a family’s level of financial need. St. George's will offer a space only to those students we can financially assist.
Additional Costs
An annual fee is assessed to all students. Students must arrive at St. George's School with an Apple laptop that is powerful enough to last through their tenure at St. George's and covered by an active AppleCare+ service contract. St. George’s offers three payment options.

St. George's University School of Medicine
St. George's University School of Medicine is the medical school of St. George's University located in St. George's, Grenada. The school was founded by Charles R. Modica on July 23, 1976. The average undergraduate GPA of accepted students is 3.4 and the average MCAT score is 497 (39th percentile), compared with 3.69 and 513 (87th percentile) respectively in the United States.
Global Impact and Diversity
While two-thirds of its students are US citizens, its student body and faculty represent over 140 countries, and its graduates practice in more than 50 countries worldwide. As part of its focus on a global curriculum, students in the Keith B. Taylor Global Scholars Program begin their medical studies in the United Kingdom, at Northumbria University, and then complete their training in Grenada.
Licensing and Recognition
SGU is the international school with the greatest amount of licensed physicians in the United States per the 2018 FSMB Survey with 10,791 licensed physicians.
After Graduation
