Point University: A Christ-Centered Education in Georgia

Point University, located in West Point, Georgia, is a private Christian liberal arts university committed to educating students for Christ-centered service and leadership throughout the world. Formerly known as Atlanta Christian College (1937-2011), Point University maintains its affiliation with Christian churches and churches of Christ.

A History Rooted in Faith

Founded in 1937 by Thomas Olin Hathcock, a Fulton County, Georgia judge, Atlanta Christian College sought to provide a Christian-based education. In 2012, the institution moved its main campus and was accepted into the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). This transition also included expanding the athletics program, adding intercollegiate football, softball, and cross country in fall 2011, and changing the athletics nickname from the Chargers to the Skyhawks.

Partnership with the Biblical History Center

Point University has partnered with the Biblical History Center in LaGrange, Georgia, to provide advantages to students. All residential students receive free admission to self-guided tours of the Center, and the Biblical History Center coordinates with faculty members to develop internship opportunities for students in museum education, biblical history, nonprofit operations, communications, and programming.

The Biblical History Center focuses on life in the ancient world, especially daily life in ancient Israel, through functional, large-scale archaeological replicas, biblical meal presentations, lectures, and other interactive experiences. The Center holds artifacts on loan from the Israeli Antiquities Authority, making it the only museum in the Southeast to hold such a collection.
