Each school has different requirements for standardized testing. Kennesaw State University has indicated that the SAT or ACT is required for some applicants. If you're applying to this and other schools, it's safest to take the SAT or ACT.

Many schools say they have no SAT score cutoff, but the truth is that there is a hidden SAT requirement. The 25th percentile SAT score is 1010, and the 75th percentile SAT score is 1210.

Superscoring Explained

This is also known as "superscoring." This means that you can choose which SAT tests you want to send to the school. How does superscoring change your test strategy?

Even though the highest total you scored on any one test date was 1000, Kennesaw State University will take your highest section score from all your test dates, then combine them to form your Superscore. This is important for your testing strategy.

Because you can choose which tests to send in, and Kennesaw State University forms your Superscore, you can take the SAT as many times as you want, then submit only the tests that give you the highest Superscore. Therefore, if your SAT superscore is currently below a 1110, we strongly recommend that you consider prepping for the SAT and retaking it. Even better, because of the Superscore, you can focus all your energy on a single section at a time. If your Reading score is lower than your other sections, prep only for the Reading section, then take the SAT. Then focus on Math for the next test, and so on.

ACT Scores

The average ACT score at Kennesaw State University is 22. The 25th percentile ACT score is 19, and the 75th percentile ACT score is 26.Here it is: when you send ACT scores to colleges, you have absolute control over which tests you send. You could take 10 tests, and only send your highest one. This means that you have more chances than you think to improve your ACT score. To try to aim for the school's ACT requirement of 22 and above, you should try to take the ACT as many times as you can.

By and large, most colleges do not superscore the ACT. (Superscore means that the school takes your best section scores from all the test dates you submit, and then combines them into the best possible composite score). We weren't able to find the school's exact ACT policy, which most likely means that it does not Superscore.

Currently, only the ACT has an optional essay section that all students can take. The SAT used to also have an optional Essay section, but since June 2021, this has been discontinued unless you are taking the test as part of school-day testing in a few states. Kennesaw State University considers the SAT Essay/ACT Writing section optional and may not include it as part of their admissions consideration.

Test-Optional Admission

First-year students applying to Kennesaw State University for the through Summer 2026 semesters may be admitted without an ACT or SAT score if they have a GPA of 3.2 or higher. Students who have a GPA of less than 3.2 should submit official ACT or SAT scores along with their high school transcript to be considered for admission.

Effective for students applying for Fall 2026 or beyond, all first-year applicants will be required to submit SAT or ACT by admissions deadlines.

Yes, you will need to submit official test-scores even if you have completed less than 30 transferable credit hours of dual enrollment course work. For the SAT, we will take the highest Evidence-based Reading & Writing section and Mathematics section if there is more than one set of scores. For the ACT, we will take the highest ACT English or Reading and ACT Math scores if there is more than one set of scores. KSU doesn’t superscore SAT with ACT scores.

Acceptance Rate and Selectivity

The acceptance rate at Kennesaw State University is 69.2%. This makes KSU somewhat selective. Because this school is moderately selective, strong academic performance will almost guarantee you admission. Scoring a 1210 SAT or a 26 ACT or above will nearly guarantee you admission. If you can achieve a high SAT/ACT score, the rest of your application essentially doesn't matter. You still need to meet the rest of the application requirements, and your GPA shouldn't be too far off from the school average of 3.48. But you won't need dazzling extracurriculars and breathtaking letters of recommendation to get in.

Additional Information for Accepted Students

Once you are accepted, you can sign up for a New Student Orientation session. Student Orientation is required for all new undergraduate first-year students. and Fall 2025 semester sign-ups open December 2, 2024. including transfer students and international students. Once accepted, you’ll be able to meet with an academic advisor prior to Orientation.

You can complete your parking sign-up 24 hours after you register for classes. for an early orientation date so you can selection your parking area earlier. You are encouraged to complete the FAFSA as early as possible to allow ample time to plan for your college expenses. The FAFSA is typically available starting on October 1 each year. Be sure to monitor communications from KSU's Financial Aid Office for the latest information. Once financial aid awards are posted, you can contact your assigned financial aid counselor for additional guidance and assistance. Financial aid counselors are assigned based on the first letter of a student’s last name.

New students can apply for housing after they’re accepted into KSU. Once accepted, you can apply as soon as the 2025-26 Housing Application opens, which is typically around Dec. 2. Students are issued time tickets for Room Selection in April based on the date their application fee is paid. The earlier you apply for housing and pay your application fee, the better chance you’ll have of getting your preferred housing location and floor plan.
