Federal Financial Aid: Grants and Loans

Beauty schools that are accredited accept Federal Financial Aid. Empire Beauty School is an accredited school that participates in Federal Financial Aid. You could receive federal grants or loans to help pay for your education. Scholarships and grants are options that do not need to be repaid. Think of them as free money. To begin your financial aid process, complete the FAFSA (free application for federal student aid) which is quick and free! If you have any special or unusual circumstances, you can contact our Financial Assistance Department. If you are looking for more information about financial aid options, please visit Financial.empire.edu. Our dedicated team of financial assistance planners is available to walk you through the process. We work together to make your education attainable.

Understanding the FAFSA

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form is an application for federal student aid. It is the only form you need to complete to apply for federal student aid, such as federal grants and loans. You may need to provide information about your parents if you are a “dependent” student. If you are a dependent student, your parents will also need to complete their own information on the FAFSA. If you are married, your spouse may need to complete information on the FAFSA. Both you and your contributors must provide consent and approval to have the IRS transfer your federal tax information into the FAFSA form.

Federal Loan Options

Loans are borrowed money for college or career school that must be repaid.

  • Direct Subsidized Loans: For undergraduates who have financial need. US Department of Education pays the interest while borrower is in school. Student must have financial need.
  • Direct Unsubsidized Loans: For all undergraduate students. Borrower is responsible for all interest. Financial need is not required.
  • Direct PLUS Loans: For parents of dependent undergraduate students. Borrower is responsible for the interest. Financial need is not required. Not based on need.

You do not have to accept all of the aid you are offered. Because you will need to pay these loans back, you will want to think about the amount of loans you’ll need to repay before you accept the loans.
