Program Details: Living, Learning, and Earning

The Disney College Program is a paid internship that offers a unique "Living, Learning, and Earning" experience.

Earning

  • Pay: Participants are paid on a weekly basis and will be paid at least minimum wage at their work site, with a starting pay of $18/hour.
  • Work Schedule: You will work the equivalent of a full-time schedule so you must have full work availability. Generally, students work between 30 and 40 hours a week and may have opportunities to pick up additional hours. During peak times you may be required to work as many as 60 or more hours per week.
  • Perks: While the pay is modest, you will be given "perks" such as free admission into the parks, discounts on food and merchandise you buy while in the parks. Because of your Disney status, some Orlando merchants will offer discounts to you as well.

Living

  • Housing: Program participants have the option to live at Flamingo Crossings Village, the fully furnished apartment community owned and operated by American Campus Communities, just minutes from Walt Disney World Resort. The community includes double-occupancy, shared apartments with amenities like resort-style pools and a 12,500 sq. ft. fitness center. Housing costs are automatically deducted from paycheck or through direct deposit.
  • Transportation: Bus service provided by Disney Programs connects you to Disney parks and resorts as well as local grocery stores and shopping. There is no charge for this service. While you will not need a car while participating in the Disney College Program, you may find it helpful to have your own car. Otherwise, you will have to depend upon your friends to transport you to the places you wish to go.
  • Expenses: Starting from the time you leave home, you will be responsible for all expenses that you incur (transportation to Disney, housing, food, entertainment, etc.).

Learning

  • Roles: Roles are categorized into six areas: food service, retail and sales, attractions, entertainment, lodging and operations. Front-line roles are guest-facing positions directly interacting with visitors in our theme parks, resorts and Disney Springs locations. Backstage roles support the guest experience behind the scenes in non-guest-facing areas.
  • Learning Opportunities: Exclusive learning offerings on the Disney College Program give participants unparalleled enhancements to their academic and professional careers through experiential learning, in-classroom experiences, professional development and networking opportunities. Attend Disney Programs learning sessions where you can gain new skills, meet industry professionals and Disney leaders and more.
  • Academic Credit: That is up to you. To receive credit you must be registered for an approved MCC internship course. Please work with Career Services if you'd like to earn internship credit while participating on the Disney College Program. If earning credit, you could be but it is not advisable. To be full-time means that you would be enrolled in courses totaling twelve (12) credit hours. This would involve your taking an additional six (6) credit hours while at Disney. In addition to the MCC internship requirements (six credit hours), some students in the past have taken additional courses. This, unfortunately, has not always worked out because of the demands of the internship responsibilities. All TC3 Disney students have the option of enrolling in a Business Elective, BUAD 261- Walt Disney World College Program, which can be taken for 3 to 15 credits, depending on the student's major and to what extent the course can help to fulfill degree requirements. To earn BUAD 261 credit, students must successfully perform their work role, write several learning reflections essays, and complete a number of Disney Educational Offerings.

  • Competition: The DCP is one of the most popular internship programs in the world, attracting tens of thousands of applicants each year. Despite its large scale, the number of available positions is limited, making the program highly competitive.
  • Stringent Standards: As one of the world’s most iconic companies, Disney has extremely high standards for professionalism, customer service, and work ethic. Disney seeks candidates who embody their values of safety, courtesy, show, and efficiency.
  • Physical Demands: Many roles require standing for long periods, working outdoors in the Florida heat, or performing physically demanding tasks.
  • Academic Conflicts: The program often overlaps with college semesters, and not all schools provide support or credit for participation, making it harder for some students to apply.

If you are not accepted the first time you apply to Disney, you can apply again. A student in good standing may apply immediately when the next recruiting season begins.
