Delta College Scholarships: Investing in Your Future

Delta College offers a range of scholarships to students, awarded based on various criteria, including major, financial need, program completion, and academic performance. The college accepts scholarship applications once a year for the following academic year.

Eligibility and Application Process

  1. Student Status: All current and future Delta College students can apply. To become a student, visit the Admissions Office page and apply to be accepted.
  2. Student ID: Obtain your student ID number upon acceptance.
  3. Account Setup: Once you have your student ID number, you will be considered a Current Student. Get your password by visiting the Electronic Account Sign up page.
  4. Online Application: Log into the online application form using your student ID and password.
  5. Application Completion: Answer all the questions and write your essays.
  6. High School Diploma/GED: Applicants must be a high school graduate or have earned a GED.

Delta College scholarships are designed to support students pursuing degrees or occupational certificates. These scholarships must be used while attending Delta College. Students who will be dual enrolled during the scholarship award year are not eligible.

Financial Aid at Delta College

Delta College prioritizes providing and delivering financial aid to its students. After funding is applied to your student account, the college releases credit balances to students within 2-3 days. All student courses are evaluated to determine if each course is applicable to the completion of a student’s program. Courses that are not part of a student’s program of choice, or any additional courses needed for transfer, are not courses that are covered with Federal financial aid.

Delta Community Credit Union Annual Scholarship Program

Delta Community Credit Union offers an Annual Scholarship Program based on academic achievement, community service, and the submission of an essay on a topic selected by the Credit Union.

Eligibility Requirements

  1. Membership: Be a Delta Community member and primary accountholder in good standing at the time of application submission (no delinquent loans, overdrawn or charged off accounts at the time the award is given, etc.). Members aged 16 and 17 can open an account with an eligible joint owner.
  2. Enrollment: Be enrolled to attend an accredited college or university during the fall of the academic year as a full-time student pursuing their first undergraduate degree.

Scholarship Details

Delta Community annually awards five $5,000 scholarships for a total of $25,000. Scholarships are earmarked for tuition, books, lodging or meal costs and will be made payable to the college or technical school by Delta Community.

Delta Research and Educational Foundation (DREF) Scholarships

The Delta Research and Educational Foundation (DREF) provides scholarships and internship opportunities to student applicants entering college or continuing their academic programs.

General Requirements

Students must meet both academic and community service requirements.

Specific Scholarships Offered by DREF

  • The Ruby Dee Legacy of Sisterhood Endowed Chair Scholarship: Made possible by a generous donation to the Delta Research and Educational Foundation (DREF), by Dr. Francene Breakfield and L.
  • The Oleta Lawanda Crain Scholarship: This scholarship will be awarded to three deserving female students graduating from high school and who reside in the states of Colorado, Missouri, or Oklahoma. The scholarship will be awarded to one female student per state in the amount of $2,000. The applicant must have a 3.0 average on a 4.0 scale. Each scholarship recipient must be accepted for enrollment at a Historically Black College or University (HBCU) for the fall semester following their high school graduation.
  • The Eula Dean Roby Scholarship: This scholarship will be awarded to students majoring in elementary education. Applicant must be a high school graduating senior or a collegiate student with a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Applicant must be pursuing a major in education. April 1, 2025, is the deadline for submitting the application packet (application, transcript, recommendation letters, and a 500-word essay expressing why they are pursuing a career in education).

Delta Alpha Pi International Honor Society Scholarship

Delta Alpha Pi International Honor Society offers a scholarship to eligible undergraduate student members.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Undergraduate Status: Applicant must be an undergraduate who is matriculated in a program that offers an associate’s degree, bachelor’s degree or certification that could lead to a degree.
  2. Full-Time Enrollment: Applicant should be considered full-time. However, if the individual has an exception to the full-time requirement as an accommodation inorder to access services and/or maintain eligibility for insurance, thatstudent would be eligible to apply for the scholarship.
  3. Active Membership: Applicant must be an active member of the DAPi chapter at the institution they are attending. Active membership is defined as someone who has attended at least 80% of the chapter meetings (either in person or virtually, where applicable) during the 2024-2025 academic year; held office in the organization; and/or organized or assisted with at least one event sponsored by the chapter; and/or served as a mentor for another student with a disability. A student who has been active in a chapter of DAPi at a community college and is transferring to an institution that does not have a DAPi chapter is eligible based on participation in the community college chapter.
  4. GPA Requirement: Applicant must have earned a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.33 on a scale of 4.00 at the time of submitting the application (i.e., a B+ average).
  5. College Attendance: Applicant must be attending a college university at the time the scholarship is awarded. Proof of registration, e.g., list of current courses for the spring 2025 semester should be included with the application. The award recipient will be required to provide official proof of registration for the fall 2025 semester from the Records Office or letter from the Registrar.

Required Application Materials

  1. Completed application.
  2. Signed letter of recommendation from DAPi chapter advisor who verifies student’s active participation and provides a list of activities/offices held, etc. to support the applicant’s information.
  3. Signed letter of recommendation from a faculty member who knows the student from class or as a faculty advisor.
  4. An official transcript that verifies a cumulative GPA of 3.33 as of the end of the fall 2024 semester.
  5. Responses to the following questions:
    • How has participation in Delta Alpha Pi International Honor Society helped you develop advocacy and leadership skills?
    • How will you use your education to advance the rights of individuals with disabilities?

Responses may be written (e.g., essay/poem), visual (e.g., painting/collage), or performance-based (e.g., musical composition).

Submission Guidelines

  • Keep submissions to letter-size (e.g., no large posters or paintings).
  • Type whenever possible; handwritten information must be clearly legible in original form and when copied.
  • Place all materials together in one envelop. Do not staple pages, and do submit copies on one side only.
  • Send complete packet by the specified deadline to the address provided.

Delta Scholars Program (DSP)

The Delta Scholars Program (DSP) is a selective program that invests in students who demonstrate outstanding achievements and commitment to service.

Eligibility

Students who are currently enrolled full-time in a two-or four-year college or university not expecting to graduate in Spring 2026 with a grade point average of 3.4 are encouraged to apply.

Program Components

  • Pre-sessions in the spring
  • A two-week Summer Research Institute and Delta Innovation Tour
  • A Capstone Project where they partner on solutions that extend far beyond the program itself.

Learning Experience

Through a 12-day intensive learning experience known as the Summer Research Institute scholars are introduced to professional workshops, speakers, and research presentations. They will embark on a Delta Innovation Tour, an immersive experience for learning more about the history of the Multi-State Delta Region as model of innovation to build skills to foster growth and change. Scholars are invited to reconnect and present at a three-day Cultivating Leaders Fall Conference in collaboration with our partner institutions to culminate the eight-month long experience.

Additional Scholarship Opportunities

Delta College has a ton of scholarships. For instance, the Honors Program Scholarships are awarded to several Honors students each year. These scholarships are merit-based and no financial need is necessary.
