Coastal Carolina University requires students receiving the ACM tuition waiver to enroll continuously in a full-time status each eligible term. Full-time enrollment requires students to register for a minimum of twelve (12) credit hours per semester. The ACM tuition waiver is prorated for students enrolled less than full-time in the summer terms only unless prohibited by an SREB state.
The ACM tuition waiver is sponsored by Coastal Carolina University and is not paid by the home state. Because of the significant reduction in tuition for approved students, ACM students are not eligible for Coastal Carolina University’s merit awards. When new students are admitted to the University and qualify for both the ACM tuition waiver and a merit award, the student will be required to select which award s/he will accept. Merit awards allow the student to change majors, whereas the ACM program requires that student remain in the ACM major in order to continue receiving the tuition waiver each semester and summer term. The student must choose one option at the point of matriculation. Students who accept the ACM tuition waiver are not eligible for other tuition reductions, including stipends or athletic assistance provided through institutional waivers. Students granted the ACM tuition waiver may still be considered for admission into the HTC Honors College and for the Chanticleer Band program award.
Merit Awards
Coastal Carolina University recognizes outstanding freshman and transfer students through its merit award program. Merit Awards are based on academic criteria as demonstrated by performance in a rigorous high school program and by performance on standardized test scores, or by performance at a regionally accredited college or university based on collegiate GPA. While every applicant is automatically considered for a merit award, other scholarships are available through the Coastal Education Foundation that require a separate application.
Tuition Waiver Programs
There are two types of tuition waiver programs available at Coastal Carolina University: the Sister-State Program and the Non-Resident Tuition Waiver. Applicants must be ADMITTED to an academic program at Coastal Carolina University. If approved, the tuition waiver benefit applies throughout four years of study as long as the student remains in good academic standing. Coastal Carolina University offers in-state tuition to students participating in the International Sister-State Agreement program. Financial Responsibility
By registering for classes at Coastal Carolina University, a student accepts full financial responsibility for the payment of tuition, fees, and all other related expenses. If the student fails to make timely payment, his/her account may be referred to a collection agency, and he/she will be responsible for reimbursing the University for the collection agency's fees and all costs and expenses, including reasonable attorney’s fees, incurred in such collection efforts. A student is bound by these policies for the duration of his/her enrollment at Coastal Carolina University and until all final charges are paid in full.
