CCU has a two-year, live-on Housing and Meal Plan Requirement. Students should review this requirement to determine if they qualify for an exemption. If eligible, students can submit their request and supporting documentation through MyCoastalHome.

Application and Prepayment: During the housing application process, students must pay a non-refundable application and prepayment fee of $200, separate from the enrollment fee.
Completing the Application: Students can access the housing application through MyCoastalHome. For security reasons, the application will time out after a period of inactivity, but the application saves as students progress. It is highly recommended that the student, and not a parent or guardian, complete the housing application to ensure that the university receives appropriate preferences. MyCoastalHome works on the latest version of all modern industry-standard browsers except Internet Explorer.
Cancellation Policy: Prior to the start of a license agreement term, only students who are not required to live in University Housing, students who cancel or decline enrollment, or summer students may cancel their housing application and request release from the license agreement. To cancel the housing application and end financial responsibility, students can click the "Cancel Application" image within the housing application. All release requests will be reviewed. If approved, the $50 housing application fee and $150 housing pre-payment are non-refundable.
Roommate Search: After submitting the housing application, students can participate in Roommate Search and, later, online Room Selection. MyCoastalHome allows students to search for roommates and accept roommate request invitations. Students can review other students’ profiles (created by answering the lifestyle questions) and communicate with potential roommates to determine compatibility before inviting them to be in their roommate group.
Room Selection: The room selection phase allows students to select their room. At their assigned time slot, students will log into MyCoastalHome to view and select the available spaces. If students are part of a roommate group, only one student in the group should log in to select the spaces for each member.

Important Dates and Deadlines

Returning + Transfer Students: Submit the housing application by March 9, 2025, to participate in online Room Selection.
First-year Students: Submit the housing application by June 1, 2025, to participate in online Room Selection.

Students who don't submit their housing applications by these deadlines will not get to self-select their spaces. Returning and transfer students who complete the housing application after March 9, 2025, and first-year freshmen who complete the application after June 1, 2025, will not be eligible for Online Room Selection and will be manually assigned by University Housing.

Room Selection Process

The room selection process prioritizes roommate groups and individual preferences.

Timeslot Assignments: The university begins with the largest groups to ensure roommate groups stay together. If a student is selecting on their own and not part of a roommate group, they will receive a timeslot for the third day of the process.
Group Selection: All students in a roommate group will have the same timeslot, and only one member will log in and select for the entire group. It is important to discuss who will be making the selection and review the group’s preferences.
Assignment Criteria: University Housing uses a combination of community preferences, roommate preferences, answers to the lifestyle questions, and available spaces to make room assignments.
