City Colleges of Chicago: Diploma Programs and Opportunities

City Colleges of Chicago (CCC) provides a diverse range of educational pathways, from short-term courses to comprehensive two-year degree programs, catering to a wide array of student aspirations and career goals. With a commitment to accessible and affordable education, CCC offers various diploma, certificate, and degree programs across its colleges.

Overview of Credentials at City Colleges of Chicago

City Colleges of Chicago issues diplomas, certificates, and GECC (General Education Core Curriculum) Credentials to students upon successful completion of their respective programs. The first issuance of these credentials is provided at no cost to the student.

Digital and Print Credentials

CCC utilizes Parchment by Instructure for online credential ordering and processing, offering students 24/7 access. Students completing their programs in Spring 2021 or later receive both electronic and print credentials.

Obtaining Credentials

Degrees and certificates are awarded at the end of each term, following the posting of final grades. The processing of diplomas and certificates typically takes approximately 4 to 6 weeks through Parchment by Instructure after final grades are posted. Current students or those who have attended within the past year can access their official transcripts via my.ccc.edu.

For students who completed their studies between Spring 2015 and Fall 2020, credentials are available for pickup at the Registrar’s Office. Those who completed their studies in Fall 2014 or earlier should contact their Registrar’s Office to confirm the availability of their credentials. If the credential is not available, a reprint request and associated charge are required.

Future Ready Program

City Colleges of Chicago is committed to making education affordable through initiatives like the Future Ready program.

Eligibility and Benefits

Future Ready is a last-dollar scholarship designed for students pursuing credit programs. To remain eligible, students who qualify for financial aid must apply for it. The program covers the tuition costs for courses on the student's program plan, provided they complete the program within 150% of the standard time. For instance, a two-year program must be completed within three years. Future Ready does not cover the costs of books, transportation, or other fees.

How the Program Works

  1. Application: Select the appropriate application method (credit or continuing education).
  2. Financial Aid: Apply for financial aid by submitting a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and all required documentation each award year.
  3. Program Plan: Consult with an advisor to create a Future Ready program plan.
  4. Consent Form: Complete the Future Ready consent form and all steps on the Future Ready checklist.
  5. Tuition Waiver: Eligible students will receive a tuition waiver, which will be reflected in their account. Prior payments for Future Ready courses may be refunded.

Important Considerations

  • Future Ready only covers tuition costs.
  • Students must complete their program within 150% of the standard time.
  • Students eligible for financial aid must apply for it to remain eligible for Future Ready.
  • Undocumented students are eligible to participate in the program.
  • If a student withdraws from a class, they can retake it and have it covered a second time, provided it is within the 150% time limit and on their program plan.
