Cape Cod Baseball League Internships: Requirements and Opportunities

The Cape Cod Baseball League (CCBL) offers a unique internship program for aspiring professionals in various sports-related fields. These internships provide hands-on experience, allowing individuals to learn about the baseball industry from experienced professionals. Many notable professionals, including former Cape League President Judy Walden Scarafile and Dick Bresciani of the Boston Red Sox, began their careers as interns with the Cape Cod Baseball League, demonstrating the valuable foundation these internships provide.

General Internship Information

The CCBL season typically starts the second week of June and ends the second week of August. Interns usually arrive one week before the season begins. Internships run from early June through mid-August.

Application Process

To apply for the CCBL internship program, navigate through the available openings and select the internship of interest. It is important to only apply for one internship. Applications are reviewed, and positions are filled on a rolling basis. Submitting applications as soon as possible is beneficial, with a strong encouragement to apply by November 15 for the following summer season.

General Requirements and Expectations

Several requirements and expectations apply to most Cape Cod Baseball League internships. These include:

  • Housing: Interns are responsible for securing their own housing on Cape Cod, even if it's temporary. To serve as a franchise intern, Cape Cod accommodations are required.
  • Transportation: Interns must provide their own reliable mode of transportation.
  • Compensation: All internships are volunteer positions (unpaid). It is expected that interns secure paid employment during their stay on Cape Cod, if necessary.
  • Attendance: All interns must be available for every home game throughout the regular and post-season. Interns are expected to be at all home games at least 1.5 hours before game time.
  • Conduct: Interns must follow the same code of conduct as all volunteers and players in the organization.
  • Participation: Interns are expected to participate in several special events outside of the home game schedule. Every effort will be made to provide the schedule as soon as it is available.
  • Academic Credit: The CCBL internship program is happy to work with colleges or universities to help interns earn credits for the internship. The criteria should be provided in advance to ensure all necessary requirements are met.

Internship Departments

In 2026, internships will be broken into three departments: League Administration, Cape League Media, and Cape League TV.
