History and Evolution
Founded in 1913 as the College of Business Administration by Dean Everett W. Lord, the institution underwent a transformation in the 1970s, becoming the School of Management. A significant turning point occurred in 2015 when Allen Questrom (Questrom ’64, Hon. ’15) and his wife Kelli (Hon. ’15) made a substantial contribution, leading to the school being renamed the Questrom School of Business. This change reflected a renewed commitment to innovation and excellence in business education.

Undergraduate Programs: The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) program provides a holistic approach to exploring business by leveraging business courses as well as those from across the University through the BU Hub. Students are exposed to business and functional disciplines, the increased interdependence of these disciplines, the larger role of business in society, and essential skills such as teaming, career management, and critical thinking. All BSBA students complete at least one concentration, which presents a deep exploration of a specific area in the study and practice of management. Students may also explore additional academic options, including the Questrom Honors Program, minors, study abroad opportunities, directed studies, and the option of pursuing a dual degree.
MBA Programs: The school offers both full-time and part-time MBA programs, including an online MBA option. Specialty MBAs are available in areas such as social impact, health, and digital technology. These programs are designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in their chosen fields. For the Two-Year MBA, the next enrollment period is August 2011. There is also a January start date for the Professional Evening MBA - Boston Campus.

The Graduate Admission and Financial Aid team supports students during the admission process. After submitting an application, many candidates are invited to interview. The school offers in-person interviews both on-campus and in cities around the world. Telephone interviews are also available for applicants who are unable to meet in person. The tuition for full-time programs is $66,670 per year (in-state and out-of-state). Specialty master's programs also cost $66,670 total program (in-state and out-of-state).

The school has 38% women in its two-year program, which ranks among the highest percentages in the country. Most students have at least two years of professional work experience in a myriad of industries and functions. Undergraduate backgrounds vary, with the highest percentage actually coming from the humanities and social science. The students are active, involved, and eager to learn. They're friendly as a group, but driven. They are the managers and leaders of tomorrow.

The Questrom School of Business offers several opportunities to study abroad during short, 3-credit international field seminars:
- The Innovation Ecosystems Field Seminar focuses on tech innovation in Israel, with company visits in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, and cultural visits to Masada and the Dead Sea.
- The India Field Seminar explores the global forces of the health sector as they intersect with the dynamics of an emerging economy.
- The Latin America Field Seminar, which takes place in both Chile and Argentina, focuses on the role of business in society as it relates to environmental sustainability, corporate social responsibility and the triple bottom line.
- The Europe Field Seminar, which travels to Belgium, France, the Netherlands and Hungary, covers topics such as macroeconomic policy, European Integration, finance, international trade, and business culture.
Facilities
The business school is housed in the Rafik B. Hariri Building, located at 595 Commonwealth Avenue. The building opened in October 1996 and contains over 40 classrooms, a 375-seat lecture hall, five computer labs, and the Frederick S. Pardee Management Library. The building offers wireless Internet access throughout as well as 4,000 wired data ports. A Breadwinners Deli and a wired Starbucks are located on the second floor of the building. The Hariri Building also contains 19 team rooms available only for undergraduate and graduate Questrom students to hold team meetings. The building is named after Rafik B. Hariri, the late former Prime Minister of Lebanon, who was a Boston University trustee.
