The institution's journey began with the establishment of the School of Nursing in 1986, which is accredited by the Pakistan Nursing Council. In 1994, the Dr. Ziauddin Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences was established, and in 1995, it developed into Ziauddin Medical University through Sindh Assembly Act No VI of 1995.
