It's vital to note that all students must complete a geometry course or integrated math with geometry content (e.g., Math II). Two years of college-preparatory science are essential. These courses should integrate topics providing fundamental knowledge in at least two of the following subjects: biology, chemistry, or physics. CUNY Application Requirements

For students considering applying to the City University of New York (CUNY), there are specific application requirements to keep in mind.

Application Process

Freshman applicants, defined as those currently enrolled in high school or those who haven't attended college after receiving their high school diploma, follow the freshman application process. Transfer students, who have enrolled in college after completing high school, follow the transfer application process.

It's crucial to review the application thoroughly before submitting it. Upon submission, a copy of the Application Summary should be downloaded. A CUNYfirst ID number will be generated shortly after submission, allowing applicants to upload supporting materials, add recommendation requests, and make payments.

Application Fee and Waivers

All applicants are required to submit a non-refundable application fee. However, fee waivers are available for eligible students. Current CUNY College students intending to transfer without a gap in enrollment can waive the fee by answering the CUNY Enrollment question on the application. Veterans and their spouses can also receive a waiver by answering the US Military Status question and uploading proof of service. Applicants requesting a fee waiver for hardship must submit their application before requesting a waiver.

Counselors can certify student eligibility and submit fee waiver requests through CUNY’s Counselor Portal. For applicants who applied during the free application period but encountered fee waiver issues, they should continue working with their CUNY Representative.

Required Documents

After submitting the application, providing all required documents is essential. Only one set of documents needs to be sent to CUNY, even if applying to multiple colleges. This includes official high school transcript(s) and potentially additional documents depending on the college(s) applied to. Official transcripts from all schools attended (high schools, colleges, universities, and proprietary schools) are required.

It's important to note that all submitted materials become part of the admissions process and cannot be returned. Therefore, original documents that cannot be requested again should not be submitted.

Transcripts

An official transcript is defined as a record detailing the complete academic history (all years) while in attendance at a college, university, or any postsecondary institution. It must include a recent signature and date by a school official and an original institutional seal. Documents from a university must be official to be considered, meaning they are in a stamped and sealed envelope from the post-secondary institution.

If the OSIS number was entered on the application, an electronic copy of the high school record will be retrieved. Otherwise, the Help Desk for Students should be contacted.

Home-Schooling

For students who received home schooling, specific documentation is required. Generally, the curriculum should adhere to the school district’s preliminary education requirement for earning a high school diploma. New York State residents must submit a transcript outlining all completed coursework with grades earned. Seniors completing a home-school program must submit a letter from the superintendent certifying that they are completing a program equivalent to a NYS four-year high school program. If this letter cannot be obtained, a High School Equivalency diploma is required. Out-of-state residents must provide a state-issued diploma or a High School Equivalency diploma. CUNY does not accept diplomas from non-public correspondence, online, or virtual high schools.

Essays and Test Scores

Applicants to Baruch College, Hunter College, or Queens College may need to submit essays. Baruch College recommends all freshman applicants submit an essay. In light of the COVID-19 crisis, SAT and ACT test scores are not required nor considered in the application review process for the Fall 2023 through Spring 2027 admission cycle.

International Transcripts

All transcripts and associated documents must be translated. A copy of the complete academic record (all years), as well as any national or government certificates earned, must be submitted. Secondary School documents can be uploaded onto the CUNY application. If attending university, an official transcript from each university is required.

Application Status

CUNYfirst allows all applicants to check the status of their applications and view decisions. If the freshman and transfer application deadlines are missed, it might still be possible to apply to colleges that continue to accept applications after the deadline. An admission decision will be received from each of the colleges selected on the application.

The Boys Varsity Volleyball team has achieved success, winning playoff games and having winning seasons. Many teams, including the boys basketball, handball, boys volleyball, and wrestling teams, led winning seasons in the 2017-2018 school year.
