Admission to Valencia College Nursing Programs
The Nursing Programs at Valencia College are limited-access programs, meaning that admission to Valencia College does not guarantee acceptance into the Nursing Program. Students must apply separately and meet specific admission criteria outlined by the School of Health Sciences.

Initial Enrollment and Course Selection
Degree-seeking students enrolling at Valencia for the first time will have a limited range of courses from which to choose for their first 18 college-level credits. Within the first 18 college credit hours, students are typically required to take ENC1101 (Freshman Composition I), and if applicable, SLS 1122 or HSC1004 (for students pending acceptance to a health sciences program), and a mathematics course appropriate to their selected meta-major. The remaining courses will be chosen from the General Education Core Courses in humanities, science, or social science, and/or the introductory courses within the A.S. degree programs.

Traditional A.S. Nursing Program
The Traditional A.S. Nursing program at Valencia College is a direct path into a specialized career in the nursing field. Graduates of this program are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Exam (NCLEX-RN), which measures the competencies needed to perform safely and effectively as newly licensed, entry-level registered nurses. Graduates of this traditional A.S. program may transfer to any Florida public college or university to complete a B.S.N (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) Program.

- All specialized program courses are offered on the West Campus and may not be offered every session; some are offered at the Osceola Campus.

Valencia/UCF Concurrent A.S.N. to B.S.N. Program
Valencia College partners with the University of Central Florida (UCF) to offer a concurrent program that allows students to earn an A.S. in Nursing from Valencia College and a B.S.N. from UCF simultaneously. This track is designed for students who would like to earn an A.S. while also taking BSN courses offered by UCF.

R.N. to B.S.N. Program
The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree at Valencia College is an online RN to BSN program, providing an opportunity for individuals who hold an A.S. or diploma in Nursing to further their education. The RN to BSN degree program is an online and limited access program.
Admission Requirements for R.N. to B.S.N. Program
- Submit official transcripts from all prior colleges and universities with one denoting completion of a diploma from a nursing program or an Associate Degree in Nursing from a college or university accredited by an agency recognized by the United States Department of Education including course work with a minimum grade of C equivalent to: BSC 2085C HUMAN ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY I or BSC 2093C ; BSC 2086C HUMAN ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY IIor BSC 2094C ; MCB 2010C MICROBIOLOGY; PSY 2012 GENERAL PSYCHOLOGY; DEP 2004 DEVELOPMENTAL PSYCHOLOGY; HUN 2202 ESSENTIALS OF NUTRITION WITH DIET THERAPY; NUR 1060C ; and 3 additional credits in BSC or CHM or PHY.

Criminal Background Checks and Drug Testing
All accepted applicants are required to submit applications through Valencia for a criminal background check and drug testing. Applicants for Valencia’s Health Sciences Programs must be free of offenses that would disqualify them from a student clinical experience in a healthcare setting and must have their civil rights intact. According to the laws governing state licensure, any candidate who has been arrested or convicted of any offense other than minor traffic violations will be required to petition the State Board of Nursing where they will take the NCLEX-RN licensure exam for permission to sit for the licensing exam. Completion of the nursing program does not ensure permission to sit for the licensing exam.
