The G. Wayne Clough Georgia Tech Promise Program: Requirements and Impact
The G. Wayne Clough Georgia Tech Promise Program offers a transformative opportunity for eligible students. Founded in 2007 and named after Georgia Tech’s President Emeritus G. Wayne Clough, the program has supported more than 1,250 students from over 110 counties across the state in their journey to a Georgia Tech degree.
Providing Debt-Free Education
The G. Wayne Clough Georgia Tech Promise Program provides a debt-free degree to qualifying students from low-income Georgia families. It fills a gap in the financial aid support system by picking up where other scholarships and financial aid options leave off, covering a student's full cost of attendance. The G. Wayne Clough Georgia Tech Promise Scholarship makes it possible for academically qualified in-state students with family incomes below $55,500 to earn a Georgia Tech degree debt free.

Financial Support and Coverage
The awards from the G. Wayne Clough Georgia Tech Promise Program will be combined with other scholarships, grants, and a Federal Work-Study job opportunity to meet the student's financial need associated with the cost of full-time resident tuition, mandatory fees, an allowance for books, standard housing, personal expenses, and meal plan.
Application Requirements and Process
To be considered for the G. Wayne Clough Georgia Tech Promise Program, students must complete certain application steps. In addition to the GT App, if you wish to be considered for Federal Aid or need-based institutional funds, you must also complete the 2025-26 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) using your 2023 tax information. However, students should start early by creating an FSA ID for yourself and, if applicable, have your parent/guardian create their own FSA ID as soon as possible. Please note: Georgia residents who wish to apply for the HOPE/Zell Miller Scholarship ONLY may complete the Georgia Student Financial Aid Application (GSFAPPS) form instead of the FAFSA.
