Market Research Responsibilities
Market research is a critical skill used at Seaside Sustainability to grow their network of Green Scholars and Sustainability Consulting in schools across the nation. Interns work collectively to compile a database of educators who focus on bettering the environment. All interns spend a maximum of 2 hours per week researching and storing this information. This process is imperative to Seaside’s mission of bringing actionable change to the classroom and aiding those who take part in their program. Interns gain valuable experience in research, data extraction techniques, and spreadsheets. As interns join Seaside’s leadership, they take on increasing responsibilities and are not required to do weekly market research.

- Department Managers (DMs): DMs take the lead on more than 20 Seaside projects, each with 2-10 team members working virtually. - Management Fellows: Similar to the DM position, a fellow exemplifies organization, leadership, and communication skills and has the opportunity to lead a team of 3-10 interns throughout their internship. The duties of this position include helping to onboard new interns, reporting to the Executive Director and other team fellows, and ensuring intern and project success. Skills needed include project development, task delegation, and superior organizational and communication skills.
- Advisors: Community Advisory Team members work directly with the Executive Director and alongside board members, intern directors, management fellows, other community advisors, and a large cadre of interns organized in teams to advance the organization’s goals further. Common advisor duties and responsibilities include leading the implementation of new management and organizational processes and procedures across the program, delegating tasks to appropriate team members, working closely with the Human Resources team to manage and oversee recruitment for future internship sessions, and collecting and analyzing feedback from interns throughout the program to gauge satisfaction and success.
- Strategic Assistant to the Executive Director: The Strategic Assistant works closely with the Executive Director to oversee key projects across all departments, often acting as the Executive Director’s liaison and, at times, representing them directly.
