Eligibility and Requirements

The Stamps Scholarship at Mizzou is available to all international undergraduate students entering any program at the university. However, due to the requirements of an in-person interview and the time constraints of the visa application process, the university is not currently considering international applicants for the Stamps Scholarship.

Application Process

To be considered for the Stamps Scholarship, prospective students must complete the following steps:

Apply and be accepted to Mizzou and the Honors College: In order to ensure you have access to the Stamps Scholarship application in time to meet the Dec. 1 deadline, you are strongly encouraged to have applied to Mizzou and the Honors College by Nov. 1. Once students apply to Mizzou, students who meet eligibility requirements will see the Honors College application on their Application Status Page.
Submit the Stamps Scholars Application: The application is available through the Application Status Page.
Essay: An additional essay of 500-750 words in response to the following prompt: What problem do you want to address or what questions do you want to explore in your college studies? In evaluating your application, we want to get a picture of your own independent thinking and creativity. Responses to application essay questions should reflect your own ideas and experiences, be independently written by you and reflect your personal writing style.
Letters of Recommendation: Two letters of recommendation from individuals who can speak directly to your academic abilities, achievements, and character. Your writers/references will be sent a link to submit their letters of recommendation.

Semi-Finalist Weekend

All semi-finalists are required to attend. The weekend will include an in-person interview, meeting of current Stamps Scholars, lunch with key faculty and administrators, a tour of campus, sessions with campus resources, a session for parents, and several other campus activities. Semi-finalists are responsible for their own travel costs and arrangements.

The Stamps Scholars Program

The Stamps Scholarship is part of a national program founded in 2006 by E. Roe Stamps and his late wife Penny. The program partners with a select group of universities across the United States and the United Kingdom to provide scholarships and enrichment opportunities to outstanding students.

National Network

A major benefit of the Stamps Scholarship is access to a national network of Scholars and alumni who are eager to connect. Scholars have the option to be included in an online, searchable directory, where they can post their career interests and information in order to connect with other like-minded individuals. The Stamps Scholars Program sponsors a national convention every two years to encourage collaboration and connection among Stamps Scholars.

Partner Institutions

The University of Missouri is one of just 36 universities across the United States and the United Kingdom that partners with the Stamps Scholars Program on a premier scholarship. The program expanded in 2009 to include the University of Miami and in 2010 to include Barry University, California Institute of Technology, the University of Florida, the University of Illinois and the University of Virginia.

Stamps Scholars at Mizzou must be enrolled in the Honors College for all four years, working toward the completion of the Honors Certificate.
