South University, Austin fosters a vibrant campus life with various activities and resources for students.

Student Lounges and Bulletin Boards

Campus-based locations have student lounges available where students are encouraged to utilize the space. Students are also encouraged to check the University bulletin boards for notices and important information. Students who wish to post information such as items for sale, roommates needed, etc. should submit their notices to the Dean of Student Affairs for approval. All postings will be removed after 30 days.

Student Clubs and Organizations

Participation in student activities provides students with an opportunity to apply knowledge and enhance skills. Clubs that focus on academic major/career interests and academic achievement are encouraged by South University. Students interested in forming new clubs or organizations are encouraged to meet with the Dean of Student Affairs or, for online students, the Academic Success Center Manager, to discuss the group’s goals and plans and receive assistance in club formation. All student clubs must have a faculty or staff advisor and must be approved by the Dean of Student Affairs or, for online students, the Academic Success Center Supervisor. All student activities and fund-raising activities require the approval of the Dean of Student Affairs or, for online students, the Academic Success Center Supervisor. South University reserves the right to deny any application for the formation of a student club when it determines in its sole discretion that the student club does not serve the best interests of the students and/or South University.

The Campus Common

The Campus Common is the online student community. Online students can access The Campus Common by logging into the student portal.

Parking

Parking is available at all campus-based locations. Vehicles are prohibited from being parked on curbs or in designated faculty spaces, or spaces for those with disabilities. Vehicles that are illegally parked may be ticketed. Continued failure to comply with parking policies will result in the vehicle being towed at the owner’s expense; non-compliance with University policies is also a Code of Conduct violation.

Financial Aid Changes

Every year, many of the federal aid policies, practices, and awards are up for review and approval by the federal government. The government also maintains the right to modify all federal aid policies at any time during the year should there be budgetary or regulation issues that need to be addressed immediately. Students are encouraged to visit iGrad for information and guidance on improving their financial knowledge. iGrad's full library of resources includes short video presentations, relevant current articles on a wide array of financial topics, calculators, games, and a job search function.

Federal Direct Loan Repayment Plans

Depending on a student's overall federal loan amount and current financial situation, there may be different repayment options available. This federal resource will provide all of the information needed to be better informed of repayment options for federal loans. Options may include Standard, Extended, Income Contingent, and Income Based repayment plans, depending on the situation. Students can contact a Student Financial Aid Advisor at the school for assistance.

Entrance (Initial) Counseling for Student Loan Borrowers

Before receiving a student loan, first-time borrowers must complete an entrance counseling session. This interactive counseling session provides useful tips and tools to help develop a budget for managing educational expenses and helps to understand loan responsibilities.

Financial Aid Cost of Attendance

The financial aid office uses an estimate of direct and indirect costs to determine how much financial aid a student may be eligible for. Direct costs include tuition, fees, some books and supplies, and institutional housing. Indirect costs include estimates of other living expenses, transportation, and personal expenses.
