Scholarships for Aspiring FBI Professionals: A Comprehensive Guide

FBINAA Charitable Foundation Scholarships
The FBINAA Charitable Foundation provides financial assistance to high school seniors pursuing higher education. Each year, ten scholarships of $1,000 are awarded to selected students attending an accredited College or University. The program aims to:
- Support and encourage youth development through continuing education at an accredited College or University.
- Promote community involvement.
- Encourage demonstrated leadership.
- Encourage active membership in the FBI National Academy Associates.
To be eligible, applicants must be the child, step-child, or grandchild of an active member of the FBINAA or Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI, be a high school senior, and plan to attend an undergraduate program at an accredited institution of higher learning.
Josh Isaac Memorial Youth Leadership Program Graduate Scholarship
The F.B.I. Maryland/Delaware Chapter offers the Josh Isaac Memorial Youth Leadership Program Graduate Scholarship. This $1,000 award is available for full-time post-secondary education. Dependent children of an FBINAA, MD-DE Chapter member in good standing, or a deceased member, may compete for this award. Selection is based on scholastic and school/community involvement.

FBIAA Memorial College Fund (MCF) Scholarships
The FBIAA Memorial College Fund (MCF) provides scholarships for the children and spouses of deceased FBI Agents. The FBIAA MCF currently pays 75% of the student’s college tuition and expenses, including room, board, books and a one-time laptop allowance. The cause of death of these agents can be line of duty, including those deaths from 9/11 certified illnesses, an accident, illness, or natural causes. Since its inception, the MCF has provided over $14 million in support to approximately 315 students. In the 2024-2025 school year, FBIAA provided funding to 37 students in 33 different colleges and universities, covering 75% of college expenses (including tuition, room, board and books). The average scholarship being awarded is over $27,000 a year. The original purpose of the Fund was to provide interest-free college loans to qualified children of deceased FBI Agents. The terms of the trust include natural children, step-children and legally adopted children of FBI Agents who (1) died (from any cause) while so employed; or (2) retired from the FBI, whether by Law Enforcement Retirement Plan or by Disability Retirement, and died within one year of separation from the FBI. In February 1996, the terms of the trust were amended to offer scholarships instead of loans to children of deceased Agents. The FBIAA MCF currently offers scholarships to qualified individuals for use in paying the cost of obtaining an Associate degree, Bachelor’s degree or Trade Certification. Recipients may attend any college, public or private, anywhere in the world.
The Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI Scholarship Program
The Former Agents of the FBI Foundation is accepting applications for its 2026 Scholarship Program from December 20, 2025 through February 28, 2026. All other application materials are submitted in the scholarship portal and must be submitted no later than February 28, 2026. To be eligible, applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 unweighted grading scale. The student's school must send an official academic transcript to verify the student's GPA information. All transcripts must include grades for Fall of 2025. Applicants must be the CHILD or GRANDCHILD of an active member of the Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI. Students who are the CHILD of an active member of the FBI National Academy Associates (NAA) may apply for the George A. Zeiss Memorial Scholarship.
The J. Edgar Hoover Foundation Leadership Scholarship
The J. Edgar Hoover Foundation supports scholarships annually. Starting in 2016, the Foundation began offering its scholarships through endowments to selected organizations. Each endowed organization awards the J. Edgar Hoover Foundation Leadership Scholarship to deserving candidates. Each organization solicits candidates and reviews them, then selects deserving recipients for the award. The Foundation has endowed selected organizations with significant gifts totaling nearly $1,000,000 for the purpose of awarding scholarships and grants to selected college and university students, pursing undergraduate and graduate degrees. These scholarships are presented based on a combination of merit and need, including individuals who may not have an opportunity for higher education. Many recipients are pursuing degrees in law and law enforcement related studies.
Other Law Enforcement-Related Scholarships
Besides FBI-affiliated scholarships, several other organizations offer financial aid to students pursuing careers in law enforcement.
FBI-LEEDA Scholarship Program
Each year, the FBI-LEEDA scholarship program offers five $1,000 scholarships, which are awarded at the Annual Executive Training Conference. To be considered, applicants must be enrolled or accepted into an undergraduate program at the time of application submission. The deadline for applications is April 30, 2026. FBI-LEEDA selects final candidates based on eligibility, quality of application and commitment to leadership. Applicants do not have to be related to or have a relationship with an FBI-LEEDA member to be considered. Only one scholarship award of $1,000 per year can be received from FBI-LEEDA. FBI-LEEDA will make the scholarship award payment to the recipient’s school. An application may reapply each year, providing eligibility requirements are fulfilled.

Women in Federal Law Enforcement Foundation Scholarship Program
The Women in Federal Law Enforcement Foundation Scholarship Program is open to undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate students pursuing a career in federal law enforcement. Scholarship awards are $2,500 each but may vary. Applicants must be United States citizens and have a grade point average of 3.0 or above. High school students are ineligible. Since its founding in 1999, Women in Federal Law Enforcement (WIFLE) has championed the advancement of women in law enforcement by collaborating with members, partners, sponsors, and the broader law enforcement community.
Service-Based Scholarship Programs

Winston-Salem Police Department (WSPD) Scholarship Program
Since 2015, the Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Police Department (WSPD) has administered a program that provides scholarships that cover tuition, books, and fees at select universities in return for a commitment to a summer internship with the WSPD and a three-year service agreement with the department after graduation. Since 2021, six students have completed the WSPD scholarship program, and four graduated from the police academy.
