The school's leadership transitioned in 1941 to John F. Schereschewsky Sr. A significant move occurred in 1949 when Rumsey Hall relocated to its current location and became coeducational.
Throughout its history, Rumsey Hall has been guided by dedicated individuals. In 1943, David Griffin Barr, a faculty member since 1914, was appointed interim Director while John F. Schereschewsky Sr. served in the Navy. Mr. Barr remained as Headmaster until 1956, with Mr. Schereschewsky Sr. acting as Director until his death in 1969. John F. Schereschewsky, Jr. then served as Headmaster and Director, followed by Louis Magnoli, who served as Headmaster from 1969 to 1985. Thomas Farmen then took over as Headmaster from 1985 until 2016.
