Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN)
For individuals with a prior non-nursing bachelor's degree, the Accelerated BSN program offers an efficient pathway to a nursing career. This program allows students to complete the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in as little as 16 months.
Program Structure and Schedule
The Accelerated BSN program is a full-time, intense, and challenging campus-based program. The schedule includes three semesters, each split into three five-week sessions. Students can expect to be in class or clinical Monday through Friday, typically from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, although schedules may vary, with some clinical rotations and lab time extending into the evening or weekends.
Prerequisites
Applicants to the Accelerated BSN program must complete specific prerequisites before starting the program. These prerequisites can be applied as transfer credit from a prior degree or completed at Regis University. At least three of the four science prerequisites must be completed by the application deadline, with any remaining prerequisites planned or in progress.
The science prerequisites include:
- Human Anatomy (or Human Anatomy & Physiology I)
- Human Physiology (or Human Anatomy & Physiology II)
- Microbiology
- Chemistry
All science prerequisites must include a lab component and should ideally be taken within the last seven years, although all courses are considered regardless of completion time. Prerequisite classes may be completed at any regionally accredited college or university, including community colleges. Loretto Heights School of Nursing (LHSON) at Regis University only accepts online science classes from accredited universities and colleges. We do not accept science classes from Sofia Learning, Straighterline and Portage.

Additional prerequisites include Health Care Ethics, which can be taken online at Regis University every eight weeks. Religious Studies courses must be taken from a religious studies or philosophy department.
Admission Requirements
To apply for the Accelerated BSN program, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Hold a previous non-nursing baccalaureate or higher degree.
- Have a minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA.
- Complete three of the four science prerequisites by the application deadline.
- Submit all official transcripts directly to NursingCAS (Nursing Centralized Application Service).
- Submit two electronic letters of recommendation directly to NursingCAS on the standard NursingCAS form from professional or academic references.
- Submit a written personal statement per the NursingCAS application instructions.
- For applicants with international coursework, submit an official course-by-course evaluation of foreign educational credentials from an approved National Association of Credential Evaluation Services member.
Competitive Admission
Admission to the Accelerated BSN program is competitive. The program generally receives 250-350 applications for each term, accepting 54 students in the May start term and 102 students in the January start term. Students are selected based on academic performance, recommendations, and their personal statement.
Clinical Rotations
Accelerated BSN students complete over 750 hours of clinical education during the program. The final 180 hours are spent shadowing a clinical preceptor at a selected site. Clinical rotations are completed at a variety of hospitals and healthcare facilities in the Denver metro area.
Financial Aid
Most Accelerated BSN students utilize financial aid in some form for their tuition and fees. Primarily, students are offered loans as opposed to grants when seeking a second bachelor's degree.

Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN)
The Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) program at Regis College offers a strong foundation for students ready to begin their journey as professional nurses. ASN students gain hands-on experience in state-of-the-art simulation labs and care for patients in specialties such as medical-surgical, maternity, pediatric, mental health, rehabilitation, and community nursing. Graduate Nursing Programs
Regis University (Heights) offers a variety of graduate-level nursing programs, primarily online. All online classes are recorded and archived for students to access lecture material at their convenience. The admissions deadline for these programs is rolling.
Online Graduate Nursing Degree Program
The program is offered totally online, as a synchronous zoom platform, or a combination of both based on students' preference on a weekly basis, offering the greatest flexibility. Course descriptions and objectives developed for online and on-campus classes are identical with the same scholarly rigor required online. Clinical hours are arranged at the student's place of residence.
Admission & Enrollment
Same admissions standards are used for all online programs. Regis University sometimes denies admittance to qualified applicants and admits applicants living abroad.
