Red Rocks Community College: Arvada Campus and Comprehensive Programs

Red Rocks Community College (RRCC) has been assisting students in meeting ambitious career and educational goals since 1969. With campuses in Lakewood and Arvada, it is the largest community college campus in Colorado. RRCC delivers training in today’s most popular fields. Introduction to Red Rocks Community College

Red Rocks Community College is an accredited, two-year institution. It offers more than 100-degree programs, including four bachelor's and one master's-level degree program. RRCC was established in 1969 as part of the Colorado Community College System. The main Lakewood campus is located on 140 acres in the foothills of Jefferson County. Red Rocks is one of Colorado's 13 community colleges.

Arvada Campus Overview

The RRCC Arvada Campus delivers the college’s health science programs, a variety of associate degree options, and a wide range of general study courses. The Arvada campus is located on a hilltop northwest of the intersection of I-70 and Kipling in the suburban core of the Denver Metro. The Arvada campus lies northwest of the intersection of Interstate-70 and Kipling Street. The Campus offers innovative scheduling options in a welcoming atmosphere.

Programs and Courses

In addition to the student resources offered, students have an opportunity to complete their Associate of Arts (AA), Associate of Science (AS), take prerequisite courses, or specific health programs of interest, and to take classes that enrich their lives. All required courses for the AA and AS degrees are offered with the two-year Smart Track sequence of courses making it easier to complete your degree and transfer.

Transfer Programs

Nearly one third of RRCC students enroll here to prepare for success at a four-year university including Colorado School of Mines, Regis University, University of Colorado, Colorado State University and Metropolitan State University. The Bridge to Bachelor’s Degree program ensures students attending RRCC are guaranteed admission to a participating four-year college or university upon completion of an Associates degree.

Student Resources and Support

RRCC is committed to providing an environment for students, faculty, staff, and guests that is conducive to learning and working and that promotes the health and well-being of all members of the community. The Lakewood campus offers full student success and support services including admissions, assessment, advising, financial aid, tutoring, college prep, career services, and a student project center.

Financial Aid

All Red Rocks students are encouraged to apply for financial aid. The first step to receive financial aid is to submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the appropriate academic year. The results of the FAFSA application will help the Financial Aid Office at Red Rocks determine the type and amount of aid you will be eligible for.

Scholarship Opportunities

Several scholarship opportunities are available at RRCC, including:

  • Community Leaders Scholarship: If you have community service experience and a G.P.A of 3.5 or higher you may qualify for this two-year, $8,000 scholarship.
  • First Generation Scholarship: If you are the first in your family to attend college and have a G.P.A. of 2.25 or higher you may be eligible for this two-year scholarship that will cover 12 credits of tuition per semester.
  • Red Rocks/Warren Tech Scholarship: If you have earned Red Rocks college credit through the Warren Tech Concurrent Enrollment Programs, talk with your Warren Tech high school counselor to learn more and apply.

Student Life

Campus Life and Activities

An active Student Center provides services and benefits such as discounted sports and movie tickets, campus events and entertainment, student clubs from anime to World of Warcraft. The school mascot is Copper, a red fox.

Student Project Center

A dedicated space where students can collaborate on academic or creative projects. Equipped with tools, supplies, and technology such as computers, printers, poster-making materials, and crafting items. The Student Project Center located in room 1551, is a non-instructional open lab funded with student fees. The following are available for currently enrolled students: High-speed Internet access, PCs equipped with MS Office, and campus-wide printing (limited to 100 pages per student per week).

Student Food Pantry

The pantry is a no-need-based, market-style food outlet available to all currently enrolled Red Rocks Community College students. The variety of food we offer allows our students to sit down and prepare food in the lounge, and to shop for groceries to take home. It is a resource that provides free groceries and hygiene items to students facing food insecurity. Stocked with non-perishable goods, fresh produce (when available), and basic necessities. Operates on a no-questions-asked basis to ensure dignity and accessibility for all students.

Student IDs

Students can obtain, replace, or update their official campus identification cards in the Student Life office. IDs may be used for rec center access, student support service check ins, library checkouts, and campus events. Must be enrolled in the current semester to obtain a student ID. Bring government-issued photo ID. The first ID is free, $10.00 replacement charge if lost or stolen.

Lockers

Secure storage options are available for students to rent or use during the semester. Ideal for storing books, supplies, or personal items between classes. Located throughout both the Lakewood and Arvada campuses, free locker rentals for students are available through the Student Life Desk.

Board Game and Ping Pong Table Rentals

This fun and social service allows students to borrow a variety of board games for personal use or group gatherings. It's perfect for game nights, stress relief, or building community. Students can choose from strategy games, party games, and classic favorites, with something for every interest and occasion. The service also includes access to our ping pong table and equipment in the Nook, offering even more ways to relax and connect with others.

Calculator Rentals

A practical service offering short-term access to scientific or graphing calculators for exams, homework, or class use.

The Den

The Den offers a variety of activities including guest speakers, special class lecturers, club meetings, and events, all of which are open to Red Rocks students and are FREE! For more information, check out the event calendar on Fox Life.

The Nook

Come hangout and get in a game of Foosball, Table Tennis or Bubble Hockey in The Nook. Located on the west end of campus, down the stairs next to The Bookstore. Paddles and balls available for check out with valid student ID at the Student Life Front Desk. * Bubble Hockey is 25 cents per game.

The Lounge

Welcome to the newest study area at the Lakewood Campus with comfy chairs and chill vibes.

Tobacco-Free Campus

On November 2, 2018 the Governor of Colorado enacted an Executive Order making all State owned or leased buildings and grounds 100% tobacco-free. The campuses of the Colorado Community College System are covered by this order. On July 1, 2019 the policy went into effect on the Red Rocks Community College (RRCC) campuses/properties. Starting July 1, 2019, smoking and vaping in any form (cigarettes, pipes, water pipes/hookah, electronic smoking devices, etc.) and all other forms of tobacco use (use of chew, snuff, snus, dip, etc.) is prohibited on all properties of RRCC, including in buildings, parking lots, recreational areas, and all areas currently designated for tobacco use. Use is permitted only in areas that are not State/RRCC property.

Events and Space Rental

Need space for your event? We have a variety of options to choose from at both our RRCC Lakewood and Arvada campuses. We host events that include meetings, conferences, training sessions, banquets and classes. We allow groups that include those from the community, businesses, schools, non-profit organizations, local, federal and state agencies, as well as political groups.

How to Get Started

Simply fill out the free online application. You can apply any time; our semesters start in late August, mid-January, and early June. There are also condensed courses and online classes that start throughout the year. When you’re ready, chances are there’s a class starting.
