Honors Programs and Scholarships

Freshman Honors Program (FHP): High school students are encouraged to apply when submitting their Queens College application. Scholarship recipients are placed in the FHP, a specially designed liberal arts curriculum of interrelated classes that satisfy core requirements and incorporate experiences that integrate the work students do in these classes. The Freshman Honors Program provides a half in-state tuition scholarship for up to 8 semesters, as well as a peer cohort with supplemental course-related field trips and honors courses.
Macaulay Honors College: Macaulay Honors College is the honors college of the City University of New York which inspires and prepares high-achieving students to solve challenges facing New York City and the global community.
Transfer Honors Program (THP): The THP helps students maintain their scholarly momentum from their first colleges, embark on high-level coursework, partake in individualized research, and ask big questions in their respective fields. Students receive scholarships at two levels, half tuition and full tuition (NY resident tuition rate), for the four-semester duration of their studies at Queens College.

The Kessler Scholars Program: Since Fall 2020, the Kessler Scholars Program at Queens College has been a visionary program that provides academic, financial, and social support to exceptional students who are among the first in their families to attend college. Leveraging the benefits of a cohort model, students are encouraged to begin building relationships with fellow scholars and the institution early to support their career advancement.
The Mellon Mays fellowship program accepts students from under-represented populations and others who have a demonstrated commitment to eradicating racial disparities.

International Student Requirements and Resources

Queens College hosts a significant number of international students each year. International students must adhere to specific USCIS requirements to maintain their immigration status:

Undergraduate Students: Must register for and complete a minimum of 12 credits each semester.
Graduate Students: Must register for a minimum of 9 credits and complete 9 credits each semester.

Dropping below the required credit threshold may lead to loss of immigration status.
