After an eleven-year hiatus, the beloved college football video game series has made its triumphant return with EA Sports College Football 25. Following the release of the series' previous entry in 2013, Electronic Arts (EA) settled a lawsuit brought by former college football players who argued their name, image and, likeness (NIL) were used without permission or compensation. This new installment promises to be bigger and better than ever, packed with features that fans have eagerly anticipated. Among these, the Team Builder stands out as a robust and detailed system, allowing players to design, edit, and personalize their own college football programs from the ground up.

The Genesis of College Football 25

The journey to bring back the college football franchise was not without its challenges. Initially, player names and likenesses were not to be included in the game. Because of this, several schools, including Notre Dame, Tulane and Northwestern refused to join the game until NIL rules were finalized. EA Sports responded by stating "player name, image and likeness is not currently planned for the game. However, we are watching the developments in this area closely and are prepared to take steps to include players should that opportunity arise."

At the time, the NCAA had delayed and not voted on new NIL rules, but over two dozen states had either passed or proposed laws so that institutions couldn't enforce the NCAA's NIL rules. The 2021 United States Supreme Court case NCAA. v. Alston further influenced the landscape.

On November 22, 2022, EA Sports vice president and general manager Daryl Holt announced that the game would be released in summer . On February 22, , EA Sports announced that all 134 Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) programs would be featured in EA Sports College Football 25 but the 128 Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) programs would not be included at launch. That same day, ESPN's lead college football commentary team of Chris Fowler and Kirk Herbstreit announced that they would be featured as commentators. Herbstreit was a commentator in EA's original NCAA Football series until its hiatus after NCAA Football 14.

A 21-minute gameplay trailer was premiered on July 8, featuring YouTuber Bordeaux and cover athlete Donovan Edwards. They played two games, with Edwards winning both with raw gameplay being revealed soon after. As well as the trailer, the day after, an Ultimate Team Deep Dive was posted. On July 12, YouTubers and Twitch Streamers who are in EA's Creator Network program got access to a nearly final edition of the game, in which rebuilds, player careers, and raw gameplay were shortly uploaded and streamed on YouTube, Twitch, and other platforms.

EA Sports College Football 25 features 134 FBS schools, but the Team Builder feature allows you to create a custom college football program. Despite including every Division I football program in College Football 25, that excludes FCS and Division III schools that also have football teams. So, if you want to add your alma mater or any other creation, Team Builder makes that dream a reality. College Football 25 supports Team Builder schools in Dynasty and Play Now.

College Football 25 Team Builder features a creation suite where players can create logos, uniforms, helmets, home fields, and custom players. There is also a download center where players can use community-created teams for Dynasty mode.

Uniform and Stadium Customization

Deeper Uniform Creation: Logo placement, pride icons, and other elements can be placed all over the uniforms rather than in select areas like the old Team Builder. This freedom opens the creativity for users who take the time to customize their created schools fully.

Player Creation

When creating players, College Football 25 has more than 16,000 head combinations. Aside from this, when building the players on your roster, there are 70 hairstyles and 14 skin complexions. Team Builder Release and Availability

If you've been following our coverage of EA Sports College Football 25, you'll know that Team Builder won't be available at launch. (A free EA account is required to access this.) Unfortunately, this is only available for offline modes, meaning they won't work in online matchups or online Dynasty.

Today, July 18, EA announced that Team Builder on the web would launch tonight.

The download center features numerous methods of finding schools. These include sorting via top downloads, top-rated, and customized searches, which can be broken down by filters, keywords, and usernames.

Currently, there are only about a half dozen or so creations available, made up of a handful of creators who had a 10-hour trial early access thanks to purchasing the Deluxe Edition of EA Sports College Football 25.
