Virginia Lucille Olds, who passed away at the age of 90 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, led a remarkable life dedicated to education and service. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and Spanish from New Mexico State University and a Master's degree from Montana State University in 1979.
Lucille's teaching career spanned several locations, including New Mexico, California, Illinois, and Wurzburg, Germany. She taught elementary school before transitioning to teaching Spanish to Peace Corps volunteers at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. It was during this time that she met her husband, Wally Olds, in Taos, where he was the editor of the Taos News.

After purchasing the Carbon County News, Lucille and Wally made Red Lodge, Montana, their permanent home. Lucille returned to teaching in 1980 and spent 12 years in the Red Lodge schools. She was also a member of PEO and the St. Agnes church in RL.
Lucille was an avid traveler, exploring various parts of the world, including Colombia, Europe, Alaska, Peru, Costa Rica, and Greece. After Wally's passing, she continued to spend summers in Red Lodge until moving to Albuquerque permanently in 2022.
