Marriott Scholarship Opportunities

Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management Scholarship

The Marriott Scholarship is offered to students of the Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management. Minimum cumulative G.P.A. is required. Those who are awarded must submit a "thank you" letter, a brief biography and an appropriate head shot via AcademicWorks prior to disbursement of their award. Students are also required to make an appointment with the CSHTM Career Services Office before disbursement, if awarded. Students can make an appointment through Handshake- Be sure to send confirmation of this appointment onto your Post-Acceptance Application.

BYU Marriott MBA Scholarships

BYU Marriott MBA students have access to a range of financial aid options, including scholarships, federal student loans, BYU Marriott School of Business loans, and private loans. All incoming BYU Marriott MBA students are automatically considered for BYU Marriott MBA scholarships. Scholarships are awarded to students based on the strength of their application, including GMAT score, GPA, interview, and quantity and quality of work experience.

CIS Educational Funds

The CIS (possibly referring to the Charles and Kathleen Manatt Scholarship) provides educational funds for qualified members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from countries outside the United States and Canada who are committed to returning to their home region after the MBA. Candidates who apply for CIS are NOT eligible to be considered for program scholarships.

Eccles Scholars Award

The Eccles Scholars Award program provides scholarships and additional financial support to MBA students who have a strong interest in and commitment to international business.

Hawes Scholars Award

The Hawes Scholars Award is given to top second-year MBA students. Criteria for the award includes academic excellence, leadership maturity, a proven commitment to ethics and values, and a demonstrated devotion to the mission of the BYU Marriott School of Business. This designation follows students as they leave the BYU Marriott MBA program. Hawes Scholars receive a grant of $10,000. Rodney J. Hawes and his wife, Beverly, sponsor these awards.

Single-Parent Scholarship

The spouses of BYU Marriott’s National Advisory Council members sponsor the Single-Parent Scholarship. Note: If a Single-Parent Scholarship recipient marries, he or she is no longer eligible to receive the scholarship.

The George E. Stoddard Prize

The George E. Stoddard Prize is an honor given to second-year MBA finance students who demonstrate leadership and academic excellence. The recipients are chosen by a committee of MBA finance faculty and represent a vote of confidence in the students, their professional potential, and their role as representatives of BYU Marriott’s MBA program around the globe.

Gary P. Williams Leadership Awards

Five Gary P. Williams Leadership Awards, each worth $5,500 or more, are given each year to students who exemplify vision and innovation, delegation, motivation, and execution in entrepreneurial endeavors.

Post-9/11 G.I. Bill

The Post-9/11 G.I. Bill fully funds the BYU Marriott MBA tuition costs for US veterans who qualify for 100 percent of the benefit. In addition, veterans who qualify for the Post-9/11 G.I. Bill receive a housing stipend and book allowance. BYU does not participate in the Yellow Ribbon Program.

Private Loans

Students who are not eligible for federal/institutional aid or who need additional funding can apply for a private loan through a banking institution. BYU Marriott MBA international students can apply for student loans through the companies below. BYU Marriott does not endorse these companies and provides this list for informational purposes only.

Assistantships and Internships

Second-year MBA students may work off-campus, or they can work on-campus in an assistantship. Assistantships provide students with the opportunity to work on-campus at a competitive wage. Nearly all MBA students take part in summer internships between the first and second year of the program.
