Leap Ahead Learning Program: Nurturing Growth and Development in Early Childhood Education

Leap Ahead Learning programs are dedicated to providing comprehensive early care and education to children and families, fostering a nurturing environment where children can thrive. These programs partner with the Department of Education’s Office of Early Learning and other organizations to serve eligible families with infants, toddlers, and young children.

Commitment to Quality Care and Education

Leap Ahead Learning programs prioritize creating a caring and nurturing environment for children. Teachers work individually with each child, accommodating their unique physical, cognitive, and psychological stages of development. The prime goal is to promote social, emotional, physical, and language development through various activities and interactions.

Gold Seal of Excellence

Leap Ahead Learning Centers are often acknowledged and receive the Gold Seal of Excellence for quality of care. The Gold Seal Certificate is issued to childcare programs that exceed the minimum childcare licensing standards set by the Florida Statutes and Florida Administrative Code. This recognition demonstrates a commitment to providing high-quality early childhood experiences.

NAC Accreditation

NAC accreditation is a rigorous, voluntary process by which Leap Ahead Learning Centers demonstrate that they meet the national standards of excellence. Achieving NAC accreditation signifies that the center has met high standards and achieved positive outcomes for young children.

Programs and Curriculum

Leap Ahead Learning programs offer a range of services tailored to different age groups and developmental needs. An accredited approved curriculum is used in the classrooms, even from the infant room, to ensure that children receive a well-rounded education.

Infant Care

Infants alternate between activities, exploration of play, individual feeding, and rest times. Children are rocked and read to on a one-on-one basis. The infant room is filled with age-appropriate toys for children to crawl, play, and discover. A "no shoe" policy helps maintain a clean environment. Three meals a day or three bottles of formula and baby food are provided at no additional cost to parents. Teachers focus on loving, nurturing, reassuring, and comforting the children in their care. Children experience the outdoors during buggy rides around the school and on the playground, weather permitting.

Toddler Program

The toddler program focuses on center-based classrooms that encourage children to explore, choose their activities, and gain an understanding of the world around them. Individualized and group activities are included in the program, with daily activities such as story and circle times, dramatic play, art, music and movement, science, and outdoor playtime. The children in this classroom will learn self-help skills, communication skills, and songs while enjoying age-appropriate activities. The program aims to enhance language development and foster active learning. A nutritious breakfast, lunch, and snack, approved by the Child Care Food Nutrition Program, are included at no additional cost to the parents.

Two-Year-Old Program

The two-year-old program emphasizes interactive communication and activities to develop language skills. Daily activities may include story time, learning games, singing favorite songs, science, dramatic center time, art exploration, and independent choice activities. Language skills are developed through repetition and reinforcement. All activities in this program are designed to accommodate the short attention spans and developmental needs of two-year-olds. Teachers guide the children daily to become increasingly more independent, providing continual opportunities to explore and learn about their world. Basic life skills, such as hand washing and potty training, are introduced.

Preschool Program

The preschool program helps children become more prepared for kindergarten. Age-appropriate centers include art, construction, dramatic play, reading, fine motor skills, and sensory activities. Computers and outdoor playtime are also enjoyed by preschoolers. Children are introduced to pre-writing, letter recognition, and phonetic awareness. They learn math skills using patterning, counting, sorting by shape, size, and colors, and making predictions based on simple information. Physical coordination skills such as balancing and jumping are also developed.

Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) Program

Leap Ahead Learning Centers often offer the State of Florida VPK program for every child who is four years old by September 1st of each school year and living in Florida. The VPK program is available for free and provides 540 hours of instruction during the school year or 300 hours during the summer. This class emphasizes preparing children for kindergarten and promotes success later in life. Children are exposed to academics while continuing to focus on self-esteem and independence through enriching activities. The curriculum focuses on independent reading, spelling simple words, enhancing writing skills, mastering simple math skills, and developing social and physical skills.
