Lakes Region Community College (LRCC), situated in Laconia, New Hampshire, stands as a public community college committed to providing accessible and relevant education. Established in 1967 as Laconia College, LRCC has evolved into a vital resource for students and the broader community, offering a diverse range of programs and services.
Historical Development and Campus Expansion
The institution's growth is reflected in its physical expansion. In 1980, the addition of the Robert H. Turner wing significantly enhanced the college's facilities. Further expansion in September 2005 saw the completion of the Center for Arts and Technology, a hub for Computer Technologies, Electrical Technologies, Fine Arts, and Graphic Design and Printing Technology. In September 2013, LRCC opened the state-of-the-art Health and Science Building, adding 24,000 square feet (2,200 m2) of usable space. This building features modern science and hi-tech Nursing labs, housing Fire Science, Nursing programs, and science laboratories.

Over the last four spring semesters, LRCC’s unique student enrollment in credit-based programs increased 14.2%. LRCC serves over 2,200 learners annually across degree programs, Early College, and non-credit workforce training. Over the past five years, that represents more than 900 additional students. At LRCC, 75% of full-time students re-enroll year-to-year; a full 5 percentage points above the national average.
Affordability and Stewardship
Since 2011, CPI inflation has risen by roughly 37%. Over that same period, LRCC tuition increased only 6.25%. This reflects a commitment to keep higher education and workforce training within reach. Through careful management and operational efficiencies, LRCC’s total expenses are lower today than they were in 2019.
