Middle Division (5th - 8th Grade)
The approach to middle school focuses on the uniqueness of each individual. The Middle Division curriculum provides students with opportunities to grow as critical thinkers and independent learners, while offering appropriate challenges to support their development. Students have the chance to explore new interests and engage more deeply in the subjects they enjoy. Beyond the classroom, students are encouraged to take safe risks and build leadership skills through various experiences. The Middle Division curriculum nurtures the growth of the whole child and lays a strong foundation for success in the Upper Division. Fifth and sixth grade students meet weekly with Faculty Advisors, as do seventh and eighth grade students. Academic competition opportunities include Robotics, Math, Science Fair, and others. Upper Division

College Preparation and Guidance
The college counseling department offers students and their parents extensive, individualized advising in preparation for the college admission process. The goal is to help each student find the best “fit” for college - academically, socially, and financially. Parents and students have access to an online platform that provides resources, communication tools, and college and career collaborative activities.
Historical Context
Before moving to its current site the college was on the Park Lane, Workington, site occupied by Workington County Technical and Secondary School since 1912. In 2018 the northern hub of the National College for Nuclear was launched at the college, funded by £7.5 million from the Department for Education. The college offers courses to students from Allerdale, Copeland and the surrounding areas.
