IFAL offers separate conferences at two of Kentucky’s leading universities. Students can express their preference for a specific session, but final selection is not guaranteed. Kentucky Farm Bureau and the participating universities select the 45 most qualified applicants for each conference.

Participation

Students selected for IFAL are responsible for their transportation to and from the conference, typically arranged by a parent, guardian, youth advisor, or Farm Bureau representative. The county Farm Bureau covers the student's registration fee, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder participation.

Youth Competitions

District variety contests are held in conjunction with the Outstanding Farm Bureau Youth competition. These contests allow young performers to showcase their talents in various performance areas, including vocal, instrumental, dance, or drama.

The top 11 acts from the district competitions perform at the KFB State Annual Meeting, providing them with a statewide platform to display their skills.

Agriculture Science Projects at the KFB Annual Meeting Trade Show

To encourage more teachers to incorporate agriculture themes, especially in science, into their classroom instruction, Kentucky Farm Bureau offers students in grades 4-8 an opportunity to participate in the trade show of its annual meeting, which attracts approximately 2,000 Farm Bureau members from across the state.

Eleven student representatives from across the state will be selected to exhibit their agriculture science projects at the trade show. The following types of projects may be selected: experiment, demonstration, research, apparatus or collection. Students are encouraged to enter projects which they may have completed for science fairs earlier in the school year. A separate project does not have to be completed specifically for this event. Each student exhibitor will receive $125 and a recognition plaque for participation in the trade show.
