Automatic Consideration for Merit Scholarships
First-year students, both from Ohio and from outside of Ohio, are automatically considered for a number of merit scholarships at Kent State. First-year students who are admitted for Fall 2026, by February 1, 2026, will automatically be considered for merit scholarships offered by the Office of University Scholarships and Financial Aid. Students must be admitted by December.

General Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for Kent State University merit scholarships, students must generally meet certain criteria. These include:

Students admitted to an online bachelor's degree program will be considered for Ohio resident merit scholarship (Academic Achievement Award) amounts for the President's Achievement Award. Kent State is test-optional, meaning students are not required to submit standardized test scores (SAT and/or ACT). If you have test scores, you can request that your scores not be used in your admission decision. If submitted, the latest test scores that will be accepted for scholarship purposes is December 2025.
External Scholarships
