Individuals who are immediate family members of employees are eligible to apply for remitted tuition. In all cases, children of employees are requested to apply for financial assistance. Endowed Scholarships

An endowed scholarship begins with an initial gift and becomes permanently endowed when the fund reaches $25,000. Full endowment must occur within a five-year period, and no awards are made to students until the $25,000 minimum level is attained. Annually Funded Scholarships

Annually funded scholarships are also critical as JCSU strives to offer more students a quality education. With an annual gift of $3,000 for a minimum of three years, a donor may establish an annually funded scholarship in his/her name or in honor of a loved one.

Grants

91% of full-time students receive local or institutional grants with an average award size of $13,783.00.

Federal Pell Grants

The federal government awards Pell Grants to undergraduate students who demonstrate financial need by filling out the FAFSA. Students with a bachelor’s or professional degree are not eligible. Pell Grants do not need to be repaid. If you receive a Pell Grant, the award amount should remain consistent at any college you gain admission to.

State Grants

If you're a North Carolina resident with demonstrated financial need, be sure to look into state grants to help pay for JCSU. The state offers two major need-based grants: The NC Need-Based Scholarship for Private College Students and the NC Scholarship. Both are reserved for needy students, and the former is reserved for those attending private schools. Unlike scholarships, these do not involve selection committees or essays.
