Unlocking Potential: Exploring Community Education Programs in Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District 191
Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District 191 is committed to creating barrier-free pathways for learning for everyone in our community. One91 Community Education believes that learning is a lifelong pursuit. The district offers a diverse range of programs catering to various age groups and interests, fostering personal growth, community engagement, and a sense of belonging. These programs extend beyond the traditional classroom setting, providing opportunities for enrichment, skill development, and social interaction.
Early Explorations and Elementary Enrichment
For elementary learners in District 191, the focus is on unpacking the world of possibilities and exploring healthy and meaningful expression. Project KIDS is an exciting before- and after-school program for elementary-aged students. The curriculum is based on the needs and interests of the children at each site. Kids have opportunities to provide input into what types of activities and projects are available and the physical make up of the environment. Allowing children to participate in this way follows best practice, helps to develop independence while fostering community and keeps kids engaged and interested in what is happening in the program. Each Project KIDS site is staffed with individuals who have a passion for and experience in before- and after-school programming for children. Our staff recognizes the importance of pairing social and recreational activities, as well as educational components, in non-school time. This form is available at the Enrollment Center and at every elementary school building, and can also be filled out online.
Middle School: A Time for Self-Discovery and Belonging
Grades 6-8 are marked by a time of self-discovery and finding belonging. Programs at this level often focus on providing a supportive environment for students to explore their interests and develop their identities. William Byrne Elementary and Nicollet Middle School captured the team titles at the annual District 191 Chess Championship on Dec. 14, showcasing the district's commitment to providing opportunities for students to excel in various fields.
