Recognizing its affiliation with Indiana University Hospital and the Indiana University School of Medicine, the hospital rebranded as Indiana University Health Arnett Hospital in January 2011. Further solidifying its commitment to growth and enhanced services, IU Health Arnett Hospital initiated an $18 million expansion in February 2015, adding 100 patient exam rooms, three stories, and 75,000-square-feet to the facility. This expansion included physicians' clinic offices, including OBGYN, orthopedics, and surgeons. The hospital is named after Arnett C. Arnett, a physician who established a Lafayette clinic in 1922.

Family Medicine Residency Program

Residents with IU School of Medicine Family Medicine Residency at Indiana University Health Arnett have their rotations in three areas in Indiana. Almost all rotation time is spent at IU Health Arnett Hospital and the surrounding IU Health clinics in the Greater Lafayette area. The residency and residency clinic are in the Medical Office Building attached to IU Health Arnett hospital, allowing for seamless learning between in-patient care, obstetrics care, and ambulatory care. Outside of the Greater Lafayette area residents spend part of their ER rotation time in Monticello and Frankfort at critical access facilities just outside of Lafayette. Residents also travel to Indianapolis to spend a month of inpatient pediatrics at Riley Hospital for Children, allowing for the contrasting experiences of working in a community hospital pediatric unit at IU Health Arnett as well as a large tertiary-care pediatric unit at Riley Hospital. The Family Medicine Clinic is a state-of-the-art ambulatory care clinic with 20 patient rooms that was opened in 2017. The Family Medicine Clinic emphasizes team-based care, and residents work alongside clinical preceptors, support staff, nurse practitioners, dieticians, pharmacy, and behavioral health, all with one goal - the patient. Residents benefit from a clinic that offers both in-person and virtual clinic visits, increasing access and satisfaction to our patients. Another benefit of the program is its robust procedure clinic.

Visiting Hours and Policies

To ensure a safe and comfortable environment, family/visitor presence during regular visiting hours is limited to two people per patient in Critical Care and four people per patient in private rooms. Overhead announcements are made as visiting hours conclude each day, and visitors are asked to leave until the next day. Patients may designate up to two individuals as personal "primary support" during their hospital stay, with the possibility of requesting after-hours visitation with approval from the care team. All IU Health facilities are smoke-free, and the possession of firearms or weapons is prohibited, except for IU Health Security Officers or on-duty Law Enforcement Officers.

Wheelchairs are readily available upon arrival, courtesy of guest relations representatives and hospital volunteers. The Banyan Brew & Bistro serves Starbucks excellent selection of coffee, teas, cappuccino, espresso and a variety of specialty drinks. With IU Health Arnett Hospital’s room service, you can choose what and when you want to eat daily. Similar to hotel room service, you choose from a menu and then call 765.838.5050 (in room extension 85050). An operator will place the order and confirm any diet restrictions. If your doctor changes your diet needs, the operator can check this information via the computer. Family members and guests may also order a meal to be delivered with a patient’s meal.
