Navigating UCF Immunization Requirements: A Comprehensive Guide
Successfully navigating the immunization requirements at the University of Central Florida (UCF) is crucial for all incoming students. This guide provides a comprehensive overview of these requirements, submission procedures, and available resources.
Immunization Requirements Overview
UCF mandates specific immunizations for all students, with certain exceptions. These requirements are designed to protect the health of the entire campus community. The specific immunizations required are found on the AAMC Standardized Immunization Form, in addition to the submission of the UCF Student Health Services Supplemental Meningitis Form. Furthermore, two tuberculosis screening tests (PPDs) or one IGRA blood test within 12 months prior to enrollment are mandatory, irrespective of any prior BCG status.
Who is Exempt?
Students enrolled exclusively in online programs are exempt from providing proof of immunizations. However, even online-only students must submit the UCF Mandatory Immunizations form, completing the demographic information and signing the waivers under Section A.
Required Immunizations and Tests
The following immunizations and tests are mandatory for students, unless an exemption applies:
- Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR): Proof of immunity is required.
- Varicella (Chickenpox): Documentation of two doses of the vaccine is required. Having had chickenpox does not fulfill this requirement.
- Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis (Tdap): The Tdap vaccine is required, not the DTaP vaccine.
- Meningitis: Completion of the UCF Student Health Services Supplemental Meningitis Form is required.
- Tuberculosis Screening: Two tuberculosis screening tests (PPDs) or one IGRA blood test are required within the 12 months prior to enrollment, regardless of prior BCG status. Ideally, the first PPD test should be followed by a second one 1-3 weeks later.
Providing Proof of Immunization
Several options exist for providing proof of immunization:

- Official Vaccine Documentation: If you possess immunization records listing all required vaccines, you do not need to bring the UCF form to your doctor. Simply fill out the demographic information on the top right of the form and sign the waivers under section A, if necessary.
- Re-vaccination: You can choose to have the required vaccines re-administered.
- Blood Titer Test: For measles and rubella, a blood titer test can check for immunity. Only positive results are accepted as proof of immunity. An equivocal or negative result necessitates re-vaccination.
Where to Obtain Immunizations and Assistance
The UCF Health Center, located on the East (Main) Campus, offers all required and recommended vaccinations at prices comparable to local health clinics.
Submission Process and Deadlines
Submit your records at least one week before your Orientation. It takes 2-3 business days for your submission to be verified and the immunization hold lifted. After submitting, you can check your myUCF account to see if the hold is still there after 3 days.
Where to Find Your Immunization Records
- Parents/Guardians: Ask your parents or guardians if they have any official vaccine documentation.
- Physician or State Health Department: Your physician or state health department may have your immunizations on file.
