Internship Overview

Available Tracks
The internship program features two tracks:
- Finance & Operations Track: Focuses on financial planning, analysis, and operational aspects within GEICO.
- Controllers Track: Centers on financial reporting, reconciliations, and tax-related activities.
Key Responsibilities
Interns will engage in various activities that provide exposure to different facets of GEICO's financial operations. Key responsibilities include:
- Gaining exposure to multiple disciplines within the CFO Organization through analyst project work. These disciplines include:
- Companywide Financial Planning & Analysis
- Business-specific Financial Planning & Analysis (incl. Marketing, Real Estate, Technology, People Group, Product, Legal, Auto, Specialty Lines)
- Compliance/Risk/Controls/Audit
- Treasury
- Financial Systems
- Supplier Management Operations
- Actuarial Reserving
- Pricing
- Strategy & Financial Analysis
- Real Estate & Facilities Management Operations
- Gaining exposure across GEICO’s Controllers group through analyst project work, including Financial Reporting, Reconciliations, and Tax.
- Working on significant analyst projects, attending meetings, and giving presentations to senior management.
- Being introduced to GEICO Finance and operations, learning the systems we use and support, as well as data and integration points.
- Developing analytical, project management, and communication skills, while beginning to build your analyst business acumen.
- Directly impacting GEICO’s financial and strategic performance, with opportunities to drive financial processing innovation and transformation.
- Developing influencing skills as you partner with business stakeholders to analyze results and recommend future investment decisions.
- Receiving mentoring and coaching from members of GEICO’s CFO Organization management.
- Participating in dedicated professional development and social events, fostering a community within their internship cohort and the broader Finance organization and accelerating their career through exposure to senior leaders.
- Interacting with associates at all levels of our Finance organization - even our CFO!
Requirements for Application

Educational Background
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required for Controllers track), Finance, Business Analytics, Business Information Systems, or other relevant analytical or FinTech major.
- Expected graduation between December 2025 and May 2026.
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher (all transcripts must be uploaded as part of the application process).
Demonstrated Interest and Skills
- Demonstrated interest in the Finance field through relevant internship experience, engaging in relevant student or business organizations, pursuing relevant certifications or advanced coursework, or other form of engagement within the field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, PowerBI or similar tooling.
- Technical aptitude and experience with or a desire to learn financial systems, such as Workday Financials.
- Knowledge in GAAP reporting (preferred for Controllers track).

- Ability to work independently given general direction and to thrive in a team environment that is constantly changing.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to handle multiple concurrent priorities, providing accurate and timely results.

Location
- Must live within commutable distance from our New York City, Chicago, or Chevy Chase, MD office (Finance & Operations Track) or our New York City or Chevy Chase, MD office (Controllers Track) and work a hybrid schedule, including working at least two to three days per week from the office.
Compensation and Benefits
The hourly salary for the internship ranges from $24.32 to $40.20, depending on factors such as experience and responsibilities. Interns benefit from mentorship, professional development, and networking opportunities.
