Unraveling Fundamental Paper Education: A Deep Dive into the Animated Series
Fundamental Paper Education (FPE) is an animated web series created by YouTuber and animator Kaaatie. Inspired by the Baldi's Basics game, FPE is set in a paper-themed world, reminiscent of Super Paper Mario. While the series gained a dedicated following, its journey has been marked by both creative enthusiasm and unforeseen challenges.
The Genesis of FPE
The initial seeds of FPE were sown in 2023 with two videos, "Why are you blinking so much?" and "A trick of the light, where am I time fades away like yesterday," which introduced characters like Lu-mei-ii (possibly), Claire, and Fen. Later in 2023, artworks that would eventually lead to Fundamental Paper Education were posted, featuring screencaptures from "Therefore You and Me" and character introductions. Claire holds the distinction of being the first FPE character introduced before the series' official production.
The formal introductions of FPE characters commenced on January 28, with Oliver and Alice leading the way, followed by other characters in March.
"Basics in Behavior": The Inaugural Music Video
The first FPE video wasn't a typical episode, but rather a music video set to The Living Tombstone's "Basics in Behavior." Released on March 1st, it garnered over 2.1 million views within three weeks. Animated in a distinctive paper style, the video depicts students being taught by Miss Circle, a teacher with sharp features and a compass for an arm. The video portrays a homicidal Miss Circle killing and eating students who underperform in her class, notably Abbie, who receives an "F" on her paper. The animation also features other menacing teachers, such as Miss Thavel (language teacher) and Miss Bloomie (science teacher).
The Elusive First Episode and Production Challenges
On May 26, Katie announced that she was still working on the first official episode, acknowledging that its creation would be a lengthy process. Animators often require significant time to produce episodes, depending on their duration and complexity.

Brainrot Concerns and Fandom Dynamics
The rise of short-form animated content has led to discussions about the potential for "brainrot," where children excessively mimic content from their watchlists. Some expressed concern that FPE might fall into this category.
Popular theories also emerged within the FPE fandom, with "Oliver is a Transgender" being a prominent one. This theory gained traction after Katie released a childhood picture of Oliver and Alice, sparking speculation about Oliver's gender identity.
Haters and Online Harassment
Like many successful creators, Katie faced harassment from certain individuals. Some notable haters included Tugboreanvil, who sent animal gore, and UTube Troll Police, who made anti-FPE statements and falsely claimed to know her location. Some members of YFGA (Youtube Farm Gang Army), were also critical of FPE.
The Unlisting of "Basics in Behavior" and Series Uncertainty
On November 24, Katie unlisted the original "Basics in Behavior" video and issued a statement explaining her decision. She expressed a desire to reduce attention on herself and her videos to focus on personal projects. Speculation arose that she might discontinue the Fundamental Paper Education series, possibly due to content farms and the sexualization of her characters.
In another statement, she claimed that "nothing is the same anymore," alluding to the aforementioned issues.

The Deletion of Online Presence and Apparent Discontinuation
On January 26/27th, Katie deleted all FPE and ∆lice-related posts from her X (formerly Twitter) page and changed her biography to "I just want to start over again." While the bio was later removed, this action fueled further speculation about the series' future.
By February 11th, Katie had deleted all remaining posts from her X page. On February 14th, she made all of her videos private (including "Basics in Behavior") and hid her last post on her YouTube channel. She also changed her channel description to "Fall is my favorite season🍁," but later erased the description entirely.
The final blow came on March 4th, when Katie's X account was officially deactivated and deleted, followed by the complete deletion of her YouTube account a few hours later.
