A career in healthcare offers a unique opportunity to help, heal, and bring hope. It is a field where one can continuously learn, grow, find purpose, fulfill passions, and gain a life of rewards. Healthcare Academies are designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and experiences necessary to succeed in this dynamic and rewarding field.
The Role of Healthcare Academies
Healthcare Academies serve as a bridge between high school education and the world of healthcare, offering students a chance to explore various career paths and gain valuable experience before committing to a specific field of study. These academies provide a structured environment for students to learn about the healthcare industry, develop essential skills, and make informed decisions about their future careers.
Bellin College Healthcare Academy
Bellin College is committed to educating the healthcare professionals of the future and offers a variety of ways for high school students to learn about healthcare careers and discover their passion through the Healthcare Academy.
Earning College Credits in High School
One of the key benefits of the Healthcare Academy at Bellin College is the opportunity for students to earn college credits while still in high school. Students can earn college credits by taking advantage of every course in the healthcare academy; however, students may step out at any point and still earn college credit for the courses they have completed. This can significantly reduce the time and cost of higher education, allowing students to graduate earlier and begin their careers sooner. Bellin College Healthcare Academy courses are $120 per credit, whereas most area colleges charge approximately $360 per credit.
Real-World Experiences and Mentorship
The Healthcare Academy at Bellin College ensures students are career-ready by offering real-world experiences, job shadowing, and mentoring from professionals in the field. Shadowing is meant to give students a first-hand view of the world of work as well as a chance to question and learn as they observe. These experiences provide students with invaluable insights into the day-to-day realities of working in healthcare and allow them to network with professionals in their field of interest.
