Understanding State Requirements

Your first step for success is to understand your specific state's continuing education requirements for maintaining your insurance license. To see your state's specific available courses and requirements, please follow the link below. Most states require 24 hours of continuing education to renew a Life, Life & Health, or Property & Casualty license.

Example: Ohio CE Requirements

Producers in Ohio are required to take 24 hours of CE, including 3 hours of Ethics, every 2-year license term. The renewal date is every 2 years on the last day of your birth month.

  • FLOOD INSURANCE TRAINING - Ohio licensed producers who sell National Flood Insurance Policies are required to take a one-time 3-hour course on Flood Insurance.
  • ANNUITY BEST INTEREST TRAINING - Ohio licensed producers must complete a state approved one-time 4-hour Annuity Suitability Best Interest Standard course before selling, soliciting or negotiating any annuity products.

Certificate and Reporting

Your certificate of completion will be processed within two (2) business days and can be downloaded/printed from the "View Certificate(s)" link in the course launch portal. Completions are normally reported to the state entities within two (2) business days of the certificate having been issued. There is a state charge of $1.00 per credit hour to report your completion. Producers need to have their CE hours posted prior to their expiration date and prior to renewing their license. Please plan accordingly to avoid a lapse in licensure. Non-resident producers are not required to take CE if they have completed CE in their home state and remain in good standing.
